Well worth the money, but not completely without flaws. August 28, 2008 Reviewer:  College Student See all my reviews >

I bought this mattress topper in an attempt to make the "solid-block-of-granite", super-firm mattress that came with my furnished college apartment a little more comfortable, and it exceeded my expectations. It feels like a completely different bed now.

However, there is one major flaw that is keeping me from giving this product 5 stars : It is indeed, slightly too small.

This has been mentioned in other reviews, and it is, unfortunately, true. A standard "full" (or "double") size bed is roughly 53 inches by 77 inches (which is the size of my mattress) but the mattress topper is about 4 inches too short in the lengthwise direction, and 2 inches too small in the width.

Honestly the width doesn't bother me at all, but the length is definitely a problem; especially given that I find full beds slightly too short to begin with (and I'm not even that tall). I could possibly overlook this problem, but not since this product is so expensive.

However the mattress topper did do its job (make the bed MUCH more comfortable), so I still rate it 4 stars.

Now for the other problems mentioned in other reviews :

Odor : Yes the mattress topper has a "chemical" smell right out of the box, but it goes away almost completely after a few hours, and it's gone entirely after a full day. It's not a reason not to buy the product.

Problems "decompressing" out of the box : My mattress topper unfolded to full size within seconds out of the box. There were no significant creases or "hard spots" as others have reported. I believe if you experience any of those issues you most likely have a defective product and it should be returned.

Overall, I strongly recommend it!

MUST READ BEFORE BUYING!!!! March 31, 2009 Reviewer:  Becks "Josh B" (Wauconda, IL, USA)  See all my reviews >

I also had the same problem some of you have already had. Dried up elephant skin in a box... Here is what I have discovered. Listen close and you could save some time. Make sure you open the box and look inside before you purchase this product. The defected mattress pad is cream in color and the one you want to buy is gray in color. They are definitely not the same product as one will make you very angry with what you purchased, and one will give you the best sleep you've probably had in a while. One other thing that is a little strange is the good product (gray in color) comes with instructions that are inside the rolled up mattress. One other key point is the gray colored pad isn't vacuum sealed. It seems to be wrapped in Seran-Wrap which I am assuming helps the pad breathe better and not dry up. Happy shopping and if you are interested in this product pick it up. It is worth the money but make sure you look in the box before you buy it. I still think it was worth the hassle so I am giving this product a 5 star rating.

I like the Deluxe topper over the plain one September 10, 2008 Reviewer:  B. Nieder "BarbyAZ" Real Name (Arizina)  See all my reviews >

I purchased both the Deluxe and the plain memory foam toppers. While they are both wonderful, the extra skirt that fits the mattress on the Deluxe one is well worth the extra $10. The smell was minimal. The cheaper cover was made in China, but the Deluxe was made in the USA. It's worth $10 for that alone.

Best Night of Sleep of My Life August 28, 2008 Reviewer:  KP (Austin, TX)  See all my reviews >

I just bought this item at my local Target store yesterday, and it's AMAZING. I really didn't have any of the problems some people are describing in other reviews. Yes, there is definitely an odor to the foam (kind of a rubbery/chemical smell) but it's already fading to the point where I really can't smell it and it's only been 1 day. When we unrolled the foam, it was already full size in its puffiness, and fit our queen bed perfectly (we didn't even need to let it puff up-it was spot-on right out of the box.) The cover is kind of a pain to put on, and it took me and my hubby to get it right, but once it's on, it's perfect. We put this on an old (10 year) mattress that used to cause us a lot of back pain. We both had the GREATEST nights sleep of our lives last night on this foam topper. It was soooo comfortable, and for the first time in years, I woke up without back pain. My husband said it was the closest thing to a water bed for him (and he really misses his old water bed!) Also, our cats will not get off the bed now...they clearly recognize how much more comfy it is!

Bad buy... October 6, 2008 Reviewer:  Tio See all my reviews >

This mattress topper is of pretty low quality. I left it outside for a week to off-gas whatever they used to make it and it didn't help. The first night I slept on it every time I turned over it was like getting a can of spray paint in the face. The pads that Target used to carry (1.5 yrs ago) were of much higher quality, both in comfort and chemical content. I returned this one and a memory foam pillow with the same problems. Look elsewhere.

Better than an eggcrate! August 12, 2008 Reviewer:  Sherri Lechten "smlechten" Real Name (St. Charles, MO USA)  See all my reviews >

I have a very inexpensive queen size bed in a very seldom used guest bedroom. I bought this mattress pad at Target because my grandfather was using the room and I was worried about his comfort. I have tempurpedic beds for us and the kids, and in the main guest room, but not the small one. My grandfather said this pad improved the feel of the bed tremendously and he was quite comfortable. My aunt also found the bed comfortable during a short stay - and it usually isn't. Don't expect to have tempurpedic bed quality, but it's a very nice improvement for the price. I'm buying another pad as a gift for my grandfather. It does take a full 24 hours to fluff and nearly a week for all traces of the foam odor to disipate fully.

Whoa.. odor! August 12, 2008 Reviewer:  newparents "KL" (CA)  See all my reviews >

This topper is supposed to come with some kind of "odor control stuff" in the foam but all I can say is it gives off some nasty chemical smell emitting from this topper for two days straight with all the windows open in the room. Plus it never took shape and all the corners are still squished flat. Gotta return this one. The smell is enough to make me sick... just found out that the outgassing odor may be carcinogenic which doesn't surprise me considering how strong the smell is. It's now been a week and it still stinks.

a comfortable sleep for the price. July 16, 2008 Reviewer:  Forty & Feeling Fine "L.E.S." (Savannah, GA)  See all my reviews >

I bought this topper a few days ago in a queen size, and it has made my old mattress a lot more comfortable. Before I put it on my bed I had to open all the doors to my house to let the chemical smell from the mattress out, which only took one whole day. This topper has helped with my back pain, my only complaints is that I wish it was just a little firmer and that the cover that came with it was larger. It took me forever it seems to zip the cover over the topper. I really don't think the cover was measured correctly for this size topper and I did not want to cut it. I finally got it zipped but it does have some places that look a little bulky, other than that, I am enjoying my mattress topper and would recommend it to anyone who really wants a good nights sleep.

Back pain is gone! April 25, 2009 Reviewer:  Dream Weaver "Sharon" (Dracut, MA)  See all my reviews >

If I had read the reviews to this topper prior to buying, I wouldn't have bought it. Thank God I didn't!

I bought the gray Deluxe queen mattress topper. I don't have any complaints aside that I do share a common experience with one buyer who said the topper is slightly smaller than the mattress. The width is short a few inches which makes no difference to me being 4' 10" and having plenty of room in a queen-sized bed to begin with.

I would highly recommend the topper I bought. I've been suffereing from back and neck aches for months with my 15 year old firm mattress. I bought this topper only to get me through the next year or so until I can buy a new mattress.

I'll hardly miss a new mattress now. I love the softness of this pad. I sink into it and can feel my back is completely aligned, comforted, and supported - the best part - NO SPRINGS digging into me. I'm generally a side-sleeper and even then, my back feels completely supported; you just kind of mold into the pad and feel nothing but softness. The very first night, I slept through an entire 7 hours (and didn't even take an Advil!). I woke up refreshed and pain-free; unheard of in my house!

I love it. If you have back issues, definitely buy it. But I would also have a plan to upgrade to a new mattress if you can. This is an inexpensive, quick, and convenient way to get you sleeping comfortably and soundly until you can afford something more...

Sweet dreams!

Terrible March 9, 2009 Reviewer:  Caroline G. "Caroline G." (Phoenix, AZ)  See all my reviews >

I bought this item two days ago at my local Target store. It was rolled up and vacuum sealed in the box. I had to literally forcibly pry the roll apart and was left with what another reviewer described as a dried-up "elephant skin" - and the chemical fumes were overpowering. After reading some of the reviews here I thought maybe it just needed to breath, so I placed it outside, where it has been for the last two days. The smell is gone, but the foam has only partially expanded, leaving all of the edges and some spots in the middle still flat and hard - and it is a good foot too short for my standard queen bed. [Price] is a lot of money, and I expected better than this junk. This will be returned today.
