I started a new job July 07. New company did not offer free coffee but had a Starbucks in the Lobby. Although I like to drink 3 Cups of coffee a day, it takes me all day to do this. A full size coffee maker will "Cook" the coffee to sludge by the time I drink my 3rd cup.
I bought this and have been using it for 8 months straight, 3 times a day, 5 days a week and have NEVER had a problem. I am getting a 2nd machine because my wife's job has a 12 cup coffee maker but no one else drinks coffee. She buys it at 7/11 every morning because a full pot is not efficient. This makes great coffee and will pay for itself in a month on the money you save.
Only Complaint.... All the coffee machines that use perminant filters leave a sediment on the bottom of the cup/pot that you don't get if using paper filters. I leave the last mouthful so I don't drink this.

even though everyone seems to be having the problem of this product not lasting long, I've had a different experience. My mom bought my husband this product a year ago for christmas. we use it almost every day, and sometimes multiple times a day. I've never had a problem with it, it still works like a charm.
I will however mention that you have to make sure the water "drawer" is pushed in all the way and snug otherwise it wont make anything...because it cant fully access the water. Just makes me wonder if this is why people have thought it stopped working. Sometimes you just have to give it a good push. otherwise wonderful product, quick, easy to clean, doesnt take up much counter space. great for tea, coffee, and hot water for hot chocolate.

I don't know about the bad reviews, but this thing is great. Ok, some say "It feels plasticsy". Well, DUH, it is just $20, what do you expect, stainless steel? Just be careful with it and it will last. To those that their stopped working, there are lemons in everything. My mother got a $150 high end coffee maker and it leaked. *shrug* It happens.
The coffee machine does come on sometimes when you plug it up, but I got a notice in the box to "Let is sit for 30 seconds and it will go off" and it did. I don't know why others griped about this. Easy, just wait.
The design is great, easy to load and easy to see how much coffee you will brew with the water baskets "gauge". The stainless steel filter is good, but I drink Folgers Columbian Blend, really thick and I just took a large filter, some scissor and a few seconds, and VIOLA! I have a filter. I would recommend a filter, just make them with a scissors and then after you get the shape, stack a while bunch up and cut around the "master" filter.
The coffee is great, strong and hot. It will not be as hot as restaurants, aka "scalding you lips of hot" but close. I think this coffee maker is great for $20, it does what it says, just be easy with the body being plastic and enjoy it.

First used on 12-26-07. Worked great until 01-23-08 when the heated water started processing back into the reservoir instead of the cup. Replaced with identical model which lasted for exactly 1 day before the same issue arose.

My only complaint is the difficuly in removing the coffee flavor from the permanent filter. I do love this machine. I can make one cup of freshly brewed coffee in less than 2 minutes. It shuts itself off when it is done so you don't have the smell of stale coffee lingering in your home should you forget to turn it off. You only have to clean the filter and the cup that holds it. It's fast, it's easy and it definitely works for me. I wish it came with two filters then I could use one for coffee and one for tea.

Second a Charm

With the second machine I bought I am very careful about putting the water container all the way in, until it clicks. I have literally had hundreds of cups of coffee, tea, and bouillon from this little wonder. It is very easy to clean and makes very consistently good beverages. The pull out water container means that I can fill it without making a mess around the machine. The removable brew basket means I do not accidently get coffee grounds in the water as I did on my old machine. A very nice versatile design.
The first one of these machines I got was broken after about 10 cups. Angry would be mild compared to how I felt. When I was trying to see if I could fix it I read the directions. It seems when I put the water container back in I had not pushed it all the way in. It had not broken, I had broken it. I am relatively sure that the people that are complaining about their broken machines in the negative reviews made the same mistake I did.

I make 5 or 6 cups of coffee in this every day. I love it. I don't drink enough coffee fast enough to make 6 cups at a time and this is perfect for each individual serving. It fills my to-go cup on my way out the door with very little prep. Clean up is sooooo easy...just rinse the basket and holder and you are done. I was so disappointed when I went back to get another one and they had stopped carrying it in the store. I'm buying one for my vacation house, a spare, and one for my best friend.

I highly recommend this coffee maker! It makes a good, hot cup of coffee every time. I use a paper filter over top of the reusable one to filter out the extra grinds. Great buy.

It's sad really b/c I LOVED this little coffee maker when I first got it. I've only had it since Christmas, and today, it stopped working! It won't even turn on! I had such high hopes for this product, but I'm going to go back today and exchange it or get my money back... Very disappointed.

I purchased this to replace an old Black & Decker similar model. This one is much quieter, makes beverages hotter and overall better quality. Would definitely purchase again or recommend to other persons.
