rechargeable batt & voice activation are a plus April 9, 2009 Reviewer:  K. McNett "speedkc" Real Name (USA)  See all my reviews >

We've been using this monitor daily/nightly for 9 weeks now and love it. The voice activation is awesome. It eliminates the constant static of an "always on" monitor, however you do have the option to switch it to be contstantly "on".
When we first set it up, we thought the voice activation wouldn't work but it has many different channel settings. We just switched the channel settings and it worked almost too well, which is where I have recommendation #1:
You may want to keep the baby's door at least partially closed to eliminate the base picking up other household noise. We've found that even banging pots & pans in the kitchen or the dog barking in the living room sets off the voice activation in the baby's room at the end of the hall. And make sure the receiver is far away from the base, or at least turned down low volume if you are walking by the baby's room. It makes a feedback SCREECH if you get them too close together!

The lights that flash when the monitor picks up noise are great also. The louder the noise, the more lights come on. This is helpful when you're using a blow dryer, showering, cooking, etc. and can't hear as well but can see the monitor. Even on the voice activation mode, it will pick up sounds from mobiles or other noise makers, so keep that in mind if you have these things turned on for your baby. I've found that playing a lullaby cd on very low volume doesn't come through very much.

We keep the monitor on a table about 3-4 feet from the crib and it will still pick up our son's breathing (always on setting)...even farts and bowel movements! Nothing like hearing your baby poop through high quality Sony electronics!

It does come with an AC adapter and a rechargable battery. This was the other reason we bought this unit. One thing we found out after purchase is that the battery holds a 22-hour charge but will only recharge as much usable time as you've had it on the charger. This means you have to charge it for 22 hours to get 22 hours worth of use. Wish it were like other rechargeables where you can charge for a couple hours and get a day's worth of use. Recommendation #2, keep it plugged in at night when it is used the most. We try to keep it on the charger when not in use during the day also so that it will always be charged when we need it to be mobile.

All in all, a great monitor, reasonably and comparably priced to other monitors. They do make this product with two receivers as well, but we didn't need the 2nd. Very happy with product, would buy again, would recommend!

Best Monitor Ever!!! November 17, 2008 Reviewer:  JS Mom (Weston, CT United States)  See all my reviews >

I have had this monitor for over 3 years. It is the ONLY one I can find with the voice activation feature. That means it is completely silent until your child cries when it turns on to alert you. You do not have to listen to the constant hissing that other monitors make even at low volumes. When the monitor is on open, I can hear my child's every breath, even at a middle volume. We have no interference even with a wireless network, cordless phones, etc in our house. The monitor also has excellent range and I can go outside and garden knowing I will hear my child when he wakes up. I highly recommend this! I will be buying a second one for my new baby.

Great range and little interference August 22, 2008 Reviewer:  Mom's Rule (USA)  See all my reviews >

Durable - gets knocked over all of the time. Once battery is charged, it lasts for a while. Babies are all around us, we do not get a great deal of interference. We change the channel every so often because of interference. Picks up every noise quite well. If volume is too low - lights alert you of sounds.

Ty's Mommy September 1, 2008 Reviewer:  Ty's Momma "Michelle B" (Fresno, CA)  See all my reviews >

I love this monitor. It is the second monitor I've tried and this is the best for the price. Very little interference and barely any sound unless it's the baby. I love it! I'm a very light sleeper and the first monitor would wake me up all night with noise and interference. When I got this monitor I couldn't believe the quality. It is cheaper than most, but it works just as good, if not better, than some of the high priced monitors. I'm so happy with it and I would recommend it to anyone.

Looking for the best February 16, 2009 Reviewer:  Aggie K8 (Texas)  See all my reviews >

This is a great monitor. After a year of dealing with a very expensive but horrible video monitor, I bought this and it has been a dream. I never have any problems with out of range beeping and I can take it outside with no problems. Now I am looking at purchasing another for baby #2. I'm about ready to throw the awful "Summer" video monitor out the window!!!!

Best Baby monitor I've owned May 4, 2009 Reviewer:  Lieschen Stothoff "lieschen" Real Name (North Carolina)  See all my reviews >

I have had my share of monitors, and this one is the only one I will buy again. Unfortunately I lost it while we were on vacation, but I will definately buy another one! It has no static, doesn't run all the time, only comes on when baby is crying!! The other monitors I've had have this constant static that I can't stand, and for people like me who can't sleep with that kind of noise, this is the only monitor to buy! EXCELLENT PRODUCT!!!! Absolutely worth every penny

Great Monitor! April 29, 2009 Reviewer:  Sara S. (Panama City, FL)  See all my reviews >

After researching monitors online, I decided on this one. When reading the directions and setting it up, I found out that the monitor needed to be within 10 feet of the baby to work best. I was about to get my husband to go into the nursery to test it out but before I could ask, he said something from 2 rooms away and I heard it loud and clear. I was worried being a first time mom that I wouldn't hear my baby cry in his room but after that "test", I am fully confident in the product.

Great Monitor! April 10, 2009 Reviewer:  Target Mom "Mother of 2" (Reston, VA)  See all my reviews >

I purchased this online after reading many reviews on different monitors. This one works perfectly in our home! I've never heard any static and even on low I can hear my baby move around or cry. It's light to carry around and simply the best for your money!

Best monitor out there! April 29, 2009 Reviewer:  Happy New Mommy "Addy's Mommy" (Texas)  See all my reviews >

We purchased the Graco dual monitor first and after the first charge of the batteries it showed the whole system was dead. After reading a lot of reviews we decided on this one and it's incredible! Never have had a problem with it and it's crystal clear! Great purchase!

LOVE IT! April 22, 2009 Reviewer:  Happy Mom See all my reviews >

This monitor is GREAT and I LOVE IT! It is so sensitive, you can hear your baby breathing, or if you don't want to pick up every small sound, you can set it on voice activation so that you only hear when the baby makes a significant noise. The fact that it is rechargeable makes it easy to move about the house. LOVE IT!
