I got this seat as a gift and honestly I would never spend any money on it. With my older kids I didn't have a Bumbo and still they were sitting at 5 mo. My baby girl is 3 mo old, she hates to sit in it, still prefers a bouncy seat ( that is a must have to me ), and I'm sure she will be sitting up before she turns 6 mo. So even if you use it every day, you would use it only for a maximum of 3 months, as it is recommended from around 3 mo until baby can sit by herself. And babies can sit by the time they are 6 mo old. So there's no use of this seat.

I purchased this item for my 4 month old son.. I couldn't keep him on there for not even 2 minutes until he started crying. He kept pushing the seat until it almost tilted back. I wouldn't recommend this seat for babies that are really strong and can't stay still. Not a safe a product.
The tray is not easy to use either. I had to put my son in the seat first then lift up the seat with the child still in it in order to secure the tray under the Bumbo Seat.
I took the seat and the tray back to the store immediately.
For him to sit up. I just place him in his highchair, swing, or his stationary exersaucer, which are all much safer. I never purchased the Bumbo for my toddler and she sat up just fine..witht he other products referenced above. I Don't recommend this product.. Save your money.

I bought this chair for my 5 month old son. He sits in it well when he wants to. It's nice to take with to the park so that he can sit up on his own. We also use it to feed him (I also bought the tray attachment). Not sure that I would consider it a must have, at least for my son. The drawbacks in my opinion are the price and the fact that when he wants out he arches his back which could easily lead to a tumble if not attended at all times.

My son is right at 3 months and between 16-17lbs. We thought that it would be the ideal time for this seat. Unfortunately, we had to squeeze his chunky monkey thighs into it. It is very expensive for the couple of weeks we could probably use it. I did like the soft, squishy material it is made of.

It's a nice chair, we used it for about a month. Baby was bored and constantly trying to "escape."

This might have been a better purchase if it were a little less costly.

I wanted my baby to like it, but unfortunately it didn't work for us. This is baby #2 and he hates it. Don't take this review the wrong way every baby is different and you should consider what the baby's personality and body type are like prior to purchase. I can say that at 3 1/2 months at 15-16 lbs he is a bit chunky in the legs to fit comfortably, he arches his back to try and get out it really just makes him mad. Regardless of constant supervision, you may want to reconsider this purchase if you have a curious squirmy baby.

I didn't use this nearly as much as I thought I would. At 3 months I would put my son in it for a few minutes at time before he would be done with it. It does give them a different perspective as sitting does. However, by 5 months my son was able to sit up with a bobby around him or a pillow behind him, he would fall over quite a bit, but I think that teaches how to sit more than the bumbo does. Overall, it can be useful but is definitely NOT a MUST HAVE. I kind of do regret spending the money.

First - if your child is gaining weight fast, do not purchase this. My 4.5 month old is 19lbs and his little thunder thighs don't fit well.

He will sit in it though for a short amount of time and I think it does help him learn to sit. However, for the $$ I just don't think it is worth it. The bouncy seats and high chairs are a better purchase that have multiple uses.

I love the bumbo and so does my daughter. My daughter has been sitting in it since she was about 2 months old as soon as she was able to hold her head up. It gives her the oppurtunity to sit up and observe. The tray is a must she is 6 months old now and we have been using the bumbo with the tray for meal times. It's great not having the big old highchair out in the middle of the dining room. My husband and I feel it is a must for ALL parents.
