Perfect! November 1, 2008 Reviewer:  Lori B (WI)  See all my reviews >

I have thick coated shelties and this clipper worked great! It's quiet and clipped right through the coat including the thick undercoat without a problem. For the price of the clippers I have already recouped just one grooming charge for each dog!

Highly recommended December 25, 2008 Reviewer:  Sunny in FL "Michelle S" (Tampa, FL)  See all my reviews >

I have a chow. His last visit to the dog groomer's cost $65 and was also very traumatic for him so it had been quite a few months since I had taken him back. During that time, his fur had gotten very long and thick as well as matted in some areas. My husband and I had tried to shave him ourselves in the past with little success, but decided to try again and found this product online. We figured for the cost of 1 visit to the dog groomer's this product would practically pay for itself.

This grooming kit is fantastic!! My chow is skittish around loud noises and the shears were quiet enough that they did not alarm him. They worked great in his thick fur, even in the matted areas! The process took a lot less time than I thought it would, the kit is quick and easy to use. It cut his hair evenly and he looked just as good as he would if he went to the groomers. I highly recommend this product to anyone!! It is a great value for a quality grooming kit.

Excellent Product November 2, 2008 Reviewer:  B. Vienneau Real Name (Northern Wisconsin)  See all my reviews >

Excellent trimmer if you are a do-it-yourself type person. I trimmed 3 dogs this past summer when i purchased this kit. Each dog has thick long hair and the trimmer did an excellent job. I shave my dogs completely each spring and they love it ! From their head to the end of their tails its a buzz cut. When they see me bring out the trimmer, they wag their tail and lay down. Very good quality product. I recommend this one highly !

Not for thick undercoats May 24, 2009 Reviewer:  BoogieMom (Baltimore, MD)  See all my reviews >

I expected more capability from a clipper at this price and labeled "professional." These did not cut my Pomeranian's coat at all, and they actually stopped when they got caught in his thick hair. I wish I had saved the box, I'd take it back.

Not worth the price asked! March 22, 2009 Reviewer:  B See all my reviews >

I purchased this based on the reviews below. I spent hours looking online for clippers for my dog, who is border collie/golden retriever and has a very thick triple coat. I have went through several of the lower end clippers, and decided I was going to go for the best. Originally I was going to buy a[Price]pair of clippers, but based on the other reviews decided I would try this set of clippers first. What a disappointment. It worked great for the first 5 minutes. Even with following the directions of oiling before during and after...still didn't get through her coat . I even went so far as to just use the clippers without the guards (down to skin level), and same result. I had to go over my poor girl 3 times to get her down to where she was semi-smooth. I had better luck with some of the cheaper clippers in the past! This would be a great clipper for a dog with maybe 1-2 layers of fur. It is quieter than a lot of clippers which is nice, but has a tendency to bind up and pull hair - even with going at a snails pace. It did stay relatively cool. I will be returning these tomorrow sadly and will be purchasing the more expensive clippers from another site.

Could not even use once August 17, 2009 Reviewer:  Owner of hairy dogs "Shelley g" (Augusta, Maine)  See all my reviews >

The instructions on this are awful - I did not even get to use. I tried to get the guard on - acidentally removed the cutting blade and could not get it back on. Returned today.

Not very strong July 30, 2009 Reviewer:  handymanjd "testing stuff to destruction since 1976" (Cumming, GA USA)  See all my reviews >

Bought one of these hoping the early reviews were right. Unfortunatly, the folks who said this clipper doesn't have a lot of power were right.

Even after using scissors to cut most of the hair off, I couldn't even get this clipper to make a pass along the dogs back to cut the remaining hair (no mats) off without it binding up. The nameplate says it has a 10 watt motor-most of the "real" clippers seem to have a 30 watt motor, which is a big difference.

On the plus side, the clippers didn't get hot, and weren't very noisy. It does feel good in your hand, but the on/off switch is too easy to move, so you can easily turn it off by accident.

The on that I got also quit while using it, so I returned it as defective, and will likely spend the extra money to order a real professional clipper online.

Like they always say, you get what you pay for...
