We used the regular similac brand and my daughter had a horrible time dealing with the extra iron since iron bulks up the poops. We ended up putting her back on breastmilk exclusively until she was better. Then we found this similac with the early shield. After talking with the Abbott company (they make this product) they explained to me that the earlyshield helps babies have more of a breastmilk type baby poop, so it's softer. This helped my daughter so much! It was a great transition and we had absolutely no problems like last time! We love it!

As a nurse and new mom, I had my mind set on breastfeeding. However, I was unable to produce enough milk even when pumping. Finally I put everything aside and gave my baby this formula. It so happened that one of the nurses at the hospital had given me a free sample can before I left and whether or not it was divine intervention. My baby is now much happier, able to sleep himself (which lets mommy and daddy sleep), and is now gaining weight. He tolerates this very well and I have no trouble with bowel movements, in fact they are plentiful. Don't let yourself get frustrated.

It just so happened that while I was pregnant I sent for 2 free canisters of Similac Formula just incase breastfeeding wouldnt work for me. It turns out by the time my baby turned 1 month, I was unable to produce enough milk for him eventhough I was pumping. So I turned to this Formula and it works wonders! I did also try similac soy for gas, fussiness and spit up. I wasnt sure that was the right choice for my baby, his stools were darker and i think it was actually harder on his stomach.

I actually returned this item because it was open. This was concerning. We are all very concerned about the safety of products for our babies. So I feel uncomfortable buying any formula from this particular store.

This formula is great. After trying a couple of formulas this one just worked best for my 6 week old. He was having problems with bms & after switching to the Similac he cleared right up. I would recommend this formula to anyone!

As new parents, we used to use the pre-mixed liquid version of this. Now, after a month or so, we have started using this powder form. No problem with mixing it. Baby loves it either way. Target had a great sale on this last week; the 'buy more' sale. With free shipping, we saved about $../can buying this online at Target.com than in the Target store. Also saved me from driving to the store; hard to find time go to store with baby. =)

I love this formula and my daughter has had no trouble with it. This is what I decided to use before our baby was born, after reading about it and discussing it with several people. I was happy when after I delivered to find this is what our hospital used...so it was a smooth transition. At our one month check up, our pediatrician thought I was breastfeeding because her stools were so similar to breastfed babies. I mention that because they advertise that it is the closest thing to breast milk, other than, well breast milk!

The doctor recommended this formula to supplement my daughter's feeding at the beginning. She didn't have any problems taking a bottle of this formula. I would give this a 5, but for the fact that it is on the expensive side of things.

Great formula, coming from a major breastfeeding advocate. It's the only formula we've ever used, and I wouldn't ever consider switching. Although, I see no difference in the regular formula and the "early shield" formula.

This is a great product...Target always seems to have it in stock, we buy the formula, and baby food all in one shopping trip, very convenient! Similac early shield advance is a very good formula, and we couldn't be happier with it! :)
