Excelent system November 25, 2008 Reviewer:  John (Colorado)  See all my reviews >

Expensive, but it IS the most powerful system out there and has far greater potential than any other system. Plus its a blue ray player, that alone cost a few bucks, and they look great on an HDTV. I've had my PS3 a year now and very satisfied. It does seem to get hot, so keep it in a well ventilated area. And BUY THE EXTENDED SERVICE PLAN from Target, Target has the cheapest plan I've seen and its for 3 years, the one from another store costs more and is only 2 years. I haven't had any problems with my system, but a friends stopped reading Blue Ray disks, luckly he had the extended warranty and its getting fixed now.
It is a lot of money, and it hurt when I bought it, and still hurts to buy games, lol, but its worth it.

ones modified January 5, 2009 Reviewer:  PS3er See all my reviews >

3 mods of the PS3's had the "Backwards Compatable" ability. They were the 60GB, 20GB and a tiny number of the 80GB. Those play the PS2 format games. All the others do not. All models do play the PS1's. Sony quit making the "backward compatible" models to cut the manufacturing costs. The fastest and easiest way to see if yours is backwards compatable is that if it has 4 USB ports it will work with all mods. If it only has 2 ports it will not play the PS2's.

Backward Compatible December 1, 2008 Reviewer:  The Gr8 1 See all my reviews >

To all concerned, the new PS3 systems ARE NOT backward compatible. The only ones that will play all the old PS2 and PS1 games are the first edition PS3's with the 60GB HD. The only place you will be able to find these are on [auction websites] and they still sell for sticker price because if it. If you buy one of the new systems thinking it will play all of your old games......you will be VERY disappointed. Other than that, the PS3 runs circles around the XBOX 360. Better graphics, more power, blu-ray DVD player, better 1st-party support and games.

Best Console of this Generation April 17, 2009 Reviewer:  Your Mom See all my reviews >

Of course, all systems have pros and cons. But I'm being completely honest I have xbox 360, wii and ps3. Out of all PS3 was the best. There's so many good things about PS3: Blu-Ray player, slightly better graphics in games, never crashes like xbox 360(might freeze though if you play too long), great game selection, lots of memory, free internet & online play and much more! Please, this is worth it. Don't listen to people who say it's bad there just xbox 360 fanboys. I promise you'll love Sony's PlayStation 3.

Great System! Must Buy For Kids, Teens, Maybe Adults!!! December 22, 2008 Reviewer:  JJYanezPS3 "PS3 (*PLAY B3YOND*)" (Anderson,IN, USA)  See all my reviews >

I Got this system as an early Christmas preseant from my mom and dad 3 days ago. One thing i don't get about people is them getting all mad about them taking out the backwards compatiability. Why would you buy a PS3 to play ps2 games on it in the first place!!!! its stupid. oh well thats my opinion. maybe everyone's just retarded. *no offense* i also have a XBOX 360 Pro 60GB Model also.. for only about 3 months. i bought it in October. I've had to send it in twice already for the RROD. TRUST ME XBOX 360 GETS WAY HOTTER!!!! And if you are still trying to make a last minute choice of which system is better. Ttust Me! Get The PS3!!

PS3 FTW!! March 28, 2009 Reviewer:  EDWIN "0621" (Boulder, Colorado, USA)  See all my reviews >

I purchased the PlayStation 3 about 2 months ago. And I'm in love with it! I am very happy with it. Now, I know some of you are wondering if the PS3 is better than the XBox 360. I say heck yeah, that's just my .02 lol. The answer depends. It all matters about what types of games you prefer. If you like Xbox exclusive games over PlayStation exclusive games, than the 360 is for you. Do your research, find out what games you like. Find out what system meets your needs better.

Pros: The PS3 is mean machine that can play all of your favorite Bluray movies! Store all of your photos and music. Not to mention that the network is free! So no monthly networking fee's, unlike the 360. The controllers are wireless. No more annoying cords getting in the way. The controllers battery life is great. I hardly ever have to recharge them. An HDTV is a must! Games look amazing! With rich color and detail. You will become addicted!

Cons: Keeping this bad boy cool is an issue! It's a good idea to stand it up vertically, and keeping it well ventilated. Investing in an intercooler is a good idea. The only thing that disappointed me is that PlayStation 2 games are not supported on the 80Gb version! So you can not play your old PS2 games on your new PS3. They did away with the memory card interface. Not a big deal, I just use a USB flash drive. Speaking of USB, there's only TWO (2) USB ports! No big deal. Unless you want to use more than two USB devices at once. The exterior is a fingerprint magnet! Where ever you touch, you leave highly visible finger prints. So handle with caution!

Overall the PS3 will not let you down! It is worth every penny! The PS3 will bring you hours of entertainment. And last you many years. When buying this PS3, cancel your plans for a couple days! You'll be gaming non-stop for a few days! Hope this helped!

Great!!! December 18, 2008 Reviewer:  Happy Ps3 Owner!! "Bdubb" (Bowling Green, KY)  See all my reviews >

This system is compatible with the PS2. There is a PS2 data download that you'll get from the Playstation store and it's free. We need to stop with the bad rumors about compatibility. The only one that isn't compatible is the 40 gig. I also suggest that you buy the smallest hard drive and upgrade it on your own. It's very easy to do you can google it. you can find a notebook hard drive really cheap [...]. Good Luck with your ps3 experience and I hope we can play online sometime!!

AWSOME PRODUCT April 6, 2009 Reviewer:  mario freak 3000 "jesse" (united states)  See all my reviews >

This video game system is awsome my dad bought it mainly 4 him but i play it occasionally. i do have anintendo wii, but this is way better than a wii. o and unless your on a diet i sugjest you buy a nintendo wii, dont get me wrong the wii is great but there are some back fires. first the controllers take up batteries so thats a strike, strike 2 you actually have to point at the screen to get a signal strike 3 they hardly have any violent games. and finnaly it doesnt have a dvd player on either. i strongly sugjest that you spend more money and get a ps3 over a wii.

GREAT DEAL !!! November 23, 2008 Reviewer:  Donny "Donny" (Haslet Texas)  See all my reviews >

To answer your question, this is a great deal especially if you want to play all your PS2 games also. This unit is supposed to support the older games as well as the new. This is probably the best one of the 3 to buy ! Your husband would be very happy ! I know I would ! Good Luck !
