I wasn't sure how aesthetically pleasing this would be sitting on our stove top but the moment I opened the box I was in love. As avid tea drinkers, we registered for this kettle for our wedding. The color is even prettier "in person" and the shape is very modern. The whistle works great and the handle is not too hot, no potholders required, and the hot water pours out easily, no splashing, no burning. Plus, the kettle holds just enough so that it is not heavy or unwieldy. Thank you KitchenAid!

I think I must have gotten a different kettle than the other reviewer. The color is a much darker blue than the color in the picture, which didnt go with my cobalt accented kitchen, but I can let that slide. What I cant let slide is that the whistle has not worked on two of these things now, so it could just boil away and I would never know unless I was standing right there with it. Hard to believe this is a Kitchenaid. Maybe I have had bad luck? The fact that its pretty, the handle doesnt get hot, and the opening mechanism being smartly designed, are the reasons it didn't get a 1/5.

Aside from not having much of a whistle - I have frequently had the water spurt out when I start to pour. Half of my left hand is now covered in 1st degree burns, as I was holding my mug as I poured the water in. It took over two hours to stop burning. Pick a different kettle!

I received my tea kettle (red) for Christmas 2008.. and LOVE it. I haven't had any of the problems with the whistle not working that some other reviewers have mentioned, so I am inclined to think a bad batch left the warehouse. KitchenAid usually has fine products. I also have the mixer which is probably one of my favorite kitchen gadgets!

We received this for a wedding gift and within a week of daily use the whistle completely stopped working. I am fairly sure this is the design. My sister, and friend both have the same teapot, and theirs have lost their whistle as well. All were bought around June 2009, so maybe it was just a bad batch. I am disappointed with this kitchen-aid product, it doesn't live up to the name. Other than that it is a beautiful teapot, and holds a lot of water!
