Easy to use and holds lots of photos! December 29, 2008 Reviewer:  Amy Taylor (New York, NY)  See all my reviews >

I own a Panasonic (Pandigital) photo frame and bought the HP 8 inch photo frame for my parents. I like the HP better because it rotates automatically, depending on the orientation of the frame, so it will be easier for them to use.

If photos are re-sized to 800x600 resolution, this frame will hold several thousand photos in the 512MB internal memory! You can also view photos by putting the SD card from your camera directly into the frame, but if you do this, it will not rotate through the internal memory; you will only see the photes from the SD card. So, if you want to see all of your photos, you would need to change the settings to view from internal memory. (Most digital frames will give priority to the SD cards.)

I also like that the HP frame is easily viewed from different angles, and you can load mp3s into it to play as background music. The remote provides a quick way to zoom in on photos. The HP DF820A2 also comes with various color mattes to go with different decor. My hi-tech family loved the simplicity of this frame! What a great, easy way to share family memories.

This is the one to get! February 15, 2009 Reviewer:  No Time See all my reviews >

Bought this frame yesterday and it is perfect. This was a present for my mother-in-law who will use this photo frame to look at while she is making paintings. So, the picture had to look good. The HP frame has a very crisp image. The picture is bright and the colors are accurate. The image quality is better than we ever expected. Since my mother-in-law is not used to using a computer we needed something easy to use. All she has to do is plug in the Compact Flash card from the camera and the HP frame automatically starts a slide show. It comes with a remote control - sort of like a TV - and all you have to do is hit pause, forward, or reverse to get to the photo you want. Of course you can also zoom and other things too. My budget was [price], but after I looked carefully I couldn't find a 7 inch frame that has the 4:3 display shape. This is really important since the camera takes pictures that have that shape. The problem with the more oblong screens is that you either get black bars on the sides or part of the picture is cropped off. I thought getting a 4:3 screen was important enough to spend the extra money on this 8 inch photo frame. In addition, HP has a good reputation for quality. Glad I picked this one - this is the one to get!

Not What You'd Expect from HP December 28, 2008 Reviewer:  M Rader "Beach reader" (Memphis, TN USA)  See all my reviews >

I bought 2 of these frames as Xmas gifts, because they were a great price for the available internal memory (512MG) versus other digital frames. When I tried loading the pictures using the USB cable directly from my computer, it would not consistently work causing the download process to jam and my computer to lock up (had to reboot to start over). This happened on both frames. I resorted to buying thumbdrives and loading the pictures on these, but once I inserted the thumbdrive was dissapointed in the frame's random rotation picture feature. It says in the HP manual that the pics are supposed to randomly rotate without repeating any photos until all are shown. This feature did not work on either frame. It continually showed the same photos over and over again and took hours to show some photots for the first time. After researching reviews online, I confirmed that other consumers have the same problems, and that HP digital frames do not live up to the quality of their other products. I would recommend not buying an HP frame until they work the kinks out. If it wasn't 2 days before Xmas I would have returned the frames.

Great Frame! December 28, 2008 Reviewer:  Brandon Dawalt Real Name (TX, United States)  See all my reviews >

Outstanding digital frame, I highly recommend it! Great resolution, large internal memory and it looks like a real picture frame... what more could you want?
