Who would of thought this actually WORKS! April 29, 2008 Reviewer:  Gerald D. Vinci "vinci-designs.com" Real Name (milton, fl)  See all my reviews >

My wife and I live in a 2500 sq ft home. Our house is all on one level, 4 bedrooms three bathrooms, living room, kitchen, etc etc. We decided to try the Roomba vacuum for 2 reasons. For one, we are very busy working from home and vacuuming the house as often as we should is cumbersome. Second my wife has bad allergies and having pet hair in the house is a big problem. So typically we would have to vacuum the house several times a week. The Roomba eliminates this need and sweeps EVERY SINGLE room in our house without a problem. It manages fine on hardwood, carpet, and tile, and we are amazed to see the amount of debri it sucks up.

Another unforeseen positive side affect is we tend to not leave things laying around now because we know we want the Roomba to run on a daily basis. Therefore, the roomba has made us more orderly as well as kept all the floors clean. Roomba runs for well over an hour and if you run it on a consistent cycle will keep your entire house clean.

It has a built in scheduling system so you can automatically set it to run at a certain time any day of the week. It even comes with two "lighthouse towers" that either tell it to NOT go into a certain room, or to help guide it around your house and back to the charging dock.

Seriously this is the future of home automations at its best now! I highly reccomend this product to anyone with an open floor plan who would rather spend their time out by the pool, than vacuuming!

Will never be without Rooma again November 30, 2008 Reviewer:  Michele (Chicago, IL)  See all my reviews >

I bought a Roomba 2 years ago and bought a second unit for the upstairs shortly after that. I added Scooba about a year later. These are wonderful machines! The unit in the family room runs every night at midnight. It's great to come down in the morning and the floor is spotless! My first Roomba "died" and my husband went out and bought a new one the same day. This is a great time saver. I will have one cleaning upstairs, one cleaning downstairs and Scooba cleaning my kitchen floor. I now have time to get everything done as I'm not spending hours cleaning floors.

fantastic cleaner September 8, 2008 Reviewer:  Sappy (Saugus, MA United States)  See all my reviews >

I have 2 small children and my floors are mixed from carpet to tile to hardwood...this machine cleans them all and the few area rugs we have down too. My mother has told me for years to buy a robot, finally i needed a new vacuum and this thing kicks butt, even gets under the hutch that the broom only half cleans under. Kids found lost toys!!

I recommend it to anyone as long as they realize its still a machine and still has a compartment that needs cleaning, just like a regular vacuum. Those that had stuff break on it must have clutter in their homes.

Works well in the beginning, but then it becomes a pain May 13, 2008 Reviewer:  I. Matthey Real Name (San Antonio, TX United States)  See all my reviews >

When I first bought roomba, I was very happy that I didn't have to vacuum anymore. It went under the beds, under furniture, and did a good job. Even when there was no visible dirt, roomba picked up stuff.

However, about a month or 6 weeks later, the annoying "please clean roomba's brushes" message would stop the machine. I would clean the brushes, the container, the filter, etc. but the message would not stop and roomba would not vacuum anymore. I gave back roomba and am back to vacuuming myself.

Roomba is Awesome! November 15, 2008 Reviewer:  P. Adams Real Name (Columbus, OH)  See all my reviews >

I have two Roombas and a Scooba, and I love them all. The Roomba isn't meant to completely replace a regular vacuum cleaner; it's meant to take care of regular dusting and sweeping. And it's great for that! If you use it regularly, your floors look great all the time. I especially like the Scooba, because no way can I clean my floor as well as it does. And I'm busy doing other chores while it's doing the floors. I set my Roombas to clean while I'm at work or doing laundry or some other chore. It's a wonderful assistant, and the tech support at IRobot is great. I highly recommend the Roomba and the Scooba.

Roomba Fails No Repair January 25, 2009 Reviewer:  J Mac "BVS Jo" (CA)  See all my reviews >

Works great until it quits. Mine quit 3 days past the 1 year warranty. Unless you need a simple component you can't get these fixed. My Roomba had a memory hickup and decided to just clean a 2 foot square. Found out it was stuck in the spot mode. I removed batteries and reset and/or cleaned every thing available to no avail. I called iRobot for help. Their response ---- BUY A NEW ONE!!!! Everything else was in good condition and worked perfectly just a memory problem. iRobot's cannot be repaired. The factory will not repair nor offer any help if is is more than a brush, wheel, cover or small profitable part.

Too High Maintenance August 27, 2008 Reviewer:  HeidiGrrrl "HeidiGrrrl" (Minnesota, USA)  See all my reviews >

I thought this would be the answer to my prayers, as we have 2 long haired cats. Wrong! Although it gets "most" of the dirt, the side brushes are constantly breaking from the Roomba getting hung up on floor heating vents (where it will get stuck, and give you the "uh-oh" error, and stop), and it's hard to get replacements in a timely manner (which you have to order from iRobot--a great money-making scheme for them). Also, the brushes clog up on a regular basis, and you get the "Please remove and clean Roomba's brushes" error. We get that every other day, and I have this thing scheduled to run daily. It can't keep up with pet hair.

If your house is over 1,000 square feet, you'll need more than one Roomba as the battery doesn't last long enough for anything bigger than that. Also, if your rooms aren't perfectly square the Roomba will get "lost" and not be able to find it's way back to the home base.

The dirt cup is small, so needs to be emptied daily, and the filter cleaned. We've dismantled it 3 times to clean out the gears because they get clogged with hair, and make the Roomba "hop", eventually stopping.

The Roomba doesn't "see" the color black, so it will smack hard into black furniture, or not cross onto any rugs with a black edge as it thinks it's a cliff.

The so-called vacuum isn't powerful at all, so really this is an automated carpet sweeper, and not a real vacuum. It doesn't do deep cleaning. It's great for maintaining the floors between cleanings with a regular vacuum, but it will never replace it.

I heart my Roomba! August 19, 2009 Reviewer:  TheRealJethro "My time is worth more than you have." (Los Angeles, CA)  See all my reviews >

I bought my Roomba last year and it has been a dream. I was a bit scared, because I did a lot of research and read a lot of negative reviews. The thing was I knew two other people who actually had it and they loved theirs. I figured that people who hate something are more likely to have something to say than those who are satisfied with a product.

So, I went ahead and bought one. I love it. It works really hard, is fun to watch (which kinda defeats the purpose of the time saved not sweeping myself), picks up lots of hair from my two dogs, and I'm now saving my pennies to get the Scooba, its mopping friend.

Here are a few hints I've discovered having one:
1) you'll probably need to sweep out from behind items that it can't get around, like the toilet in the bathroom or a TV stand. I usually just sweep it out where the Roomba can get to it and it'll always find the pile I've made.

2) It doesn't get over ALL area rugs. My floors are wood and tile, but I have some area rugs that Roomba can't get over, especially those semi-shaggy bathroom rugs. I just move them when I roomba the bathroom.

Otherwise, I suggest everyone get their own Roomba. It's worth the money in novelty and effectiveness.
