I hate mowing September 12, 2006 Reviewer:  ElizabethD (Goshen, IN United States)  See all my reviews >

...but my Scott's mower makes it as fun as possible. Let's take these points in order. "It's louder than I expected." It's cutting grass, and a gas mower is WAY louder. "Don't try this if your yard is too big." My lot is 20,000 sq ft, so I have a lot of yard. I don't mow my yard all at once. It's do-able, it just takes longer. "It doesn't cut up to the edge of the sidewalk." Whatever - get a weed whacker. "It doesn't cut the weeds, and it gets stuck on sticks." They're right, it doesn't cut stiff, sticky-up weeds. It does cut lots of broadleaf and softer weeds. Get the weeds and sticks out of your yard, they're not supposed to be there anyway. Use the same technique as when you are picking up lint with the vacuum: go over it once, then again, then again, then if it's still there, bend over and pull it up. Case closed. And when you have to manuever the mower, you just back it up, turn it around, whatever. No gears, no turning circle, and light enough so you can pick it up if you need to. Mow any time of day, any time you have, without worrying about if there's gas in the tank. Clean it by spraying the grass off with a hose and spritzing it with WD-40, takes about 3 minutes and it's pristine. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is, I have some concern about the quality of the materials used and how long they'll last. But for the money it's a great value. Try it, you'll like it!

Great Cut for Lawn Fanatics October 2, 2006 Reviewer:  Jon W See all my reviews >

First, everything about this mower is "as advertised." Manual action, height adjustment, all clearly stated on product box and Target.com description. I bought this mower for a very small lot, less than 2k sq ft total. Cutting action on this mower is great. Only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 is because I have not been able to get the cutting action consistent across the entire width of the cutting reel. Only seems to cut well at the edges of the path. There are screws to adjust the cutting blade, but I haven't attempted this yet. As other reviewer stated, this mower is not for those who like to cut thru anything in their path.... Unlike some reel mowers, you CAN cut your lawn high, which is what I prefer. Just won't look completely perfect due to some longer blades of grass not getting clipped. In which case I simply cut at couple different angles to get the look I want. It really is nice that I can hang this thing on the wall, pull it out on a moments notice and cut, and it is absolutely quieter than a power mower! I am very picky about how my lawn looks, and I get a very very good look using this mower.

oh so green! April 24, 2008 Reviewer:  A. Clauss Real Name (High Point, NC)  See all my reviews >

I bought this mower 2 or 3 years ago as an emergency backup plan for my lawn service. We had a rainy spring this year so the grass grew quickly, and I have not heard from the guy who mows my lawn. Maybe the price of gas ran him out of business. No worries. I can safely, quietly mow any hour of the day for free! The first run was tough because the grass was easily 6 inches or more. I'd have to touch up the edges if I'd used a power mower, so no extra work there. I find that most of what stands tall after I mow are the weeds! I'd rather kill those than mow them. I am not a strong woman, but this is easy. (BTW, mine was made in USA.)

Now made in China! September 20, 2007 Reviewer:  D. T. Hand "Not-the-book-maven" Real Name (Milwaukee, WI)  See all my reviews >

[...] According to Target's product description, the mower is made in the United States, which greatly influenced my buying decision. The package, however, reveals that the mower is made in China. According to a "green living" website, this mower was manufactured in the USA until 2007 and is now made in China. You just can't win... oh, it assembled in a snap and looks good; however, I haven't cut so much as a single blade of grass yet.

Flow-Bee haircut for your lawn June 18, 2007 Reviewer:  Disgusted See all my reviews >

I tried to go green. I tried to save $25/week in landscaping costs. But alas, this is not the solution.

My lawn looks like I gave it a flow-bee haircut. There are so many blades of grass sticking up (especially near the edges) I now refer to my lawn as "Alfalfa."

My lawn has a slight incline, and the grass near the sidewalk sticks out, unaffected by the mower blades. You will need to buy a separate edging tool if you plan to buy this mower.

As for the "Universal" grass catcher that target is peddling, it simply doesn't fit onto the 20" mower.

It simply dumps all of the grass back into the blades.

If you are going to buy this, plan on leaving your grass clippings where they land as mulch. And plan on mowing your lawn twice per week to keep up with this products' finicky ways. If you live to stay home and mow your lawn several times a week, then this is the mower for you.

As for me, I am on my way back to Target for a refund.

Mower is okay, but the handles are defective September 13, 2009 Reviewer:  Ben Moloney Real Name See all my reviews >

Mower is okay, but the handles are defective. Part number 31098-3 is defective and breaks in approximately one season. If you have a bumpy lawn, it will break even faster. Unfortunately, there are two 31098-3 parts in the upper handle assembly, one on the left and one on the right. After the right one broke, I tried to get one online at https://www.reelin.com/ItemGroupItems.as px?ItemGroupID=58 for (price) + tax & shipping. The website has a hack that will not let you check out. When your cart is full and you hit the Check Out button, it forces you to log in again. This means you can never check out. I informed Reelin.com customer service this was the case, but they did not fix or even reply. I duct taped the two cracked pieces together and modified how I pushed the mower. Today, the left handle failed in the same place as before. I tried the website again, but it still has “Checkout dysfunction.” The handles fail simply because they are cheap thin aluminum. If you buy this product, be prepared to fool around with handles, “Checkout challenged” websites or more expensive handle repair kits here (price + tax & shipping): http://www.jackssmallengines.com/searchd b_more_info.cfm?part_num=295174&format=s ite_search
When considering this product, be sure to add the handle repair / replacement costs and aggro when comparing to other mowers. The (Amazon 1 and 2 start ratings have the handle as a consistent complaint:
