Not bad for the price November 10, 2008 Reviewer:  Swann's Girl (San Diego, CA)  See all my reviews >

I debated between these units & the Closetmaid ones also sold at target. I chose these even though they are more expensive: 1)they were more attractive & 2) the depth of the units is 14" which storage-wise is more usable, the closet maid units are 11" deep, not too much usable space at all. I only stacked 3 cubes high, 3 accross & have had no problems with swaying or such (I didn't use the plastic clips recommended. BUT I also do not have children who are going in & out of the units on a constant basis. I did not find it difficult to put them together at all. I used a little bit of woodcrafting glue before sliding them together to reinforce positioning (neat trick learned from one of those home shows). I recommend these for a quick, cheap fix to storage problems... def not "investment" furniture. The only "Con" was that the units do seem like they could break easy (they are particle wood after all). Two of the six I bought had serious damage when opened (I did not slide them out of the box, I laid the box down, opened it like a donut box and pulled out the pieces), one looked like one was dropped on a corner & crushed, the other must have been slammed between others or dropped from a high shelf because it was basically crumbles out of the box.

Nice looking, poorly designed for stacking July 31, 2008 Reviewer:  K. Lunzman "hornplayer6" Real Name (Illinois)  See all my reviews >

After seeing the display in the store I spent over $200.00 on a couple boxes of these, intending to end up with a 2 X 6 storage unit. I liked the slightly retro look and thought it would look good with my vintage 1960's table.

I just finished assembling two of the cubes and discovered that there is only a small plastic piece to attach to the back of the cubes when they are stacked. It might deter the cubes from sliding forward or backwards, but they still slide an inch or so side to side. I thought I missed something, so I checked the instructions. I discovered that "for additional stability" they have provided two screws and an L shaped metal bracket. Apparently one is supposed to screw one part of the L shaped bracket into the top surface of the cube, and the other part into the wall. Yeah, that's real attractive. Not to mention if I want to move it I'd have to unscrew it and be left with holes in my walls.

I was so looking forward to getting these put together because they looked really cool. But I may take the rest of the set back now or else figure out some other way to stabilize it. But I guess that's what I get for buying particle board furniture at Target.

Individual cubes are ok...the stacked units, not so much July 22, 2008 Reviewer:  Karen (Orlando, FL)  See all my reviews >

I happily bought my "itso" system a few days ago. I bought one double-wide cube and two smaller cubes, with a plan to stack them in a 4x4 square and use the metal feet underneath. Good looking and inexpensive, I was thinking.
Well, on the plus side, the cubes are very easy to build, and good-looking. I was pretty happy until the time came to stack them into a unit and place the metal feet. All I can say is UNSTABLE!! There are these cheapo plastic clips that attach the cubes to one another, and if you move ANYTHING, the cube units slide in relation to one another, the clips pop out and fall on the floor (my dog ate one of them and is currently chewing on a second one) and then you start the process all over again. I did it 5 times and finally gave up. The "moving" I am talking about is the type of moving you would do to center the unit on a wall, or perhaps clean under it...I'm not trying to dance on them or something! As for the metal feet, once they are in place, if you are hoping to slide your Itso furniture to the side even 2 inches, get ready for the feet to fall off, the unit to tip over, and the cubes to fall apart.(Including the cheap plastic clips, described above). My dog loves it! All the plastic clips she can eat! I would take this junk back to Target, but I don't think I have the energy to fight these falling-apart cubes into my car. I will probably just throw them away.

A high end look at a reasonable price June 29, 2008 Reviewer:  Jewels (Fort Lauderdale, FL United States)  See all my reviews >

I saw the plastic and laminate units on display in my local Target and found myself thinking about it for my home office area. I was desperately in need of some storage and found the Itso Home tool here on the site. I designed a small unit to house what I needed and went to the store this morning to pick up the four pieces I chose. The dark espresso laminate finish was my choice to coordinate with the colors in my office area.

I was dreading the assembly, so I waited until I had some lunch and gathered the tools, prepared and ready to rock. Was I surprised to find that I didn't need them at all! The larger (x2) pieces each took about 10 minutes, the single cubes took less than 5 minutes to assemble. Pre-cut ends slide into grooves, pre-drilled holes are ready for the shelf holders -- this was so simple and easy I can hardly believe I did it myself.

How's it look? Not like it came out of a box. No holes or screws showing and it actually looks very finished, as if it just might be real wood.

I'm very pleased with this purchase and the quality. For [a good price], I bought 4 pieces to create a storage unit that coordinates with the flat-top simple desk I already had. Purchasing a nice new desk would've cost me a lot more and I've always thought those add-on hutches were rather hideous anyway. This is a very attractive and contemporary storage solution. And I can add on or move pieces about, depending on future needs.

Looks good, but stacking is questionable January 2, 2009 Reviewer:  Adam (Denver, Colorado United States)  See all my reviews >

We bought a few of the Itso products to create an entertainment center (two 2x1 vertical cabinets on the outside edges, two 1x1 cabinets between those, and one 1x2 cube with shelf in the center). This 1x2 w/shelf was suppose to be the center piece with the cabinets flanking it on each side, it was advertised to hold a 70lbs tv on top when used as an entertainment unit. HOWEVER it had a noticeable sag in the middle with a mere 50 lb flat screen TV on top of it. We were able to reconfigure our arrangement putting the 1x2 on one side and the two 1x1 cabinets on the other so the TV now sits on the seam between the 1x2 shelf and one of the 1x1 cabinets and it seems much more sturdy, but having to rearrange them to compensate for this was a big pain and now how we wanted it configured.
Our configuration did not require us to stack any itso cubes but based on experience putting something else on top of them Would be careful with these if you plan on stacking or using for holding a TV.

We also had to use a box cutter to cut 3 inch hole in the back of the unit (which is backed with a cardboard type veneer) for cords to go out.

Overall they look great and are easy to put together, but perhaps best suited for lighter storage and use than advertised.

Excellent for art canvas! December 29, 2008 Reviewer:  becky See all my reviews >

I just bought this product, because I was looking for something to put my art canvas in, but wasn't sure if it was gonna work. I bought it anyway to try it out and it worked perfectly, I am going to get another one. It only took 10 minutes to put together and had no problems with it. I think this is a good product for at least that.

Awesome Storage November 25, 2008 Reviewer:  Ber (Minnesota)  See all my reviews >

I bought this shelf and 2 1x1 cubes with doors. I needed something to put my printer on as well as a place to store all of my papers and such. I did have to exchange one of the units due to damage out of the box, but over all they assembled easily and are suprisingly sturdy (did not use clips). These are great for storage and actually look good too. I plan to buy more for other rooms. I would definately reccomend these to anyone.

Don't waste your money! October 27, 2008 Reviewer:  Rachel (Kansas City, MO)  See all my reviews >

I bought this shelf to hold my daughter's toys... it fell apart while I was putting it together. Even if it would have gone together, I don't think it would have been sturdy enough to hold up to my daughter leaning on it or using it to pull herself up. The pieces slide together, they don't use screws. So if you don't have someone helping you line them up perfectly, they will tip over and break! I found a storage ottoman that held a lot more items, and looked much nicer. I suggest looking for something else.

nice look but not the best quality. September 29, 2008 Reviewer:  target lover (So. California)  See all my reviews >

I bought several components of the Itso to organize toys in our living room, so toys were not so obvious. It actually looks really nice, I just wish the quality was nicer. The back attached with plastic snaps and the way the units attach is really flimsy. I wish the brackets used to connect the units were metal and that they screwed in or something (also if there were more of them that would be better.) The display at Target is a little deserving because they are so solidly attached to each other. You get what you pay for, and I paid under $200. The canvas boxes are sure durable and really nice!!

Love It! March 20, 2009 Reviewer:  L. Johnson "Happy Shopper" Real Name (Clayton, NC)  See all my reviews >

I purchased this piece along with 2 cubes with doors. I love the modern look to the unit. It is solid and sturdy and very easy to assemble- all I needed was a screwdriver. I managed to put all three pieces together in around 30 minutes by myself. The unit looks great and I will probably add on it in time. Great buy and worth the money!
