My iPads are enclosed in Otterbox's Defender cases -my daughter is learning disabled & these cases protect from everything but extreme temperatures & exposure to water - I actually came to this site to purchase my SECOND dock. They ROCK! No other keyboard that I am aware of charges your unit while you are typing. It also prov ides the perfect viewing angle - but only in the portrait position. The only drawback - is that it can be a bit tricky to mount the iPad 2, but once docked, there is NO difference between how it performs. Buy with confidence, I don't believe they are being offered anymore by Apple - and this blows the socks off the Bluetooth wireless keyboard IMOHV - in my own humble view.

Don't purchase this item if you have an iPad2. Apple has discontinued it, and the dock between the iPad2 and the keyboard does not work. There is no keyboard accessory for the iPad2.

This is definitely a good product, and would have been a 5 star, but I have the Apple flip style case (MC361ZM/A), which is one of the thinner, and smaller cases you can buy for the Ipad, and it wont dock with the case on the Ipad. I wish they would have incorporated the fact that people will have a case on. But, if you take the case off, it's great. You can type on it with ease, and the keys are quite. It does perform multiple functions, such as screen brightness adjustment, Ipod controls, vol ume controls, lock/unlock, and "Home" button. I am planning one exchanging it for the Zagg wireless keyboard, with built in case. It is [$] more, but its better than taking my Ipad out of my case everytime i want to use the keyboard.
