I purchased this iron October 2011 and was a little disappointed that the heat setting dial is not marked for types of fabic being ironed. That turned out to be minor in comparison. The iron spit a little water now and then but not enough to return it. Since then, the water problem has increased and the iron now spills big spots of water no matter what the setting for heat or steam. I usually iron things dry now to avoid water spots, but for cottons I really need steam. By the time I was fed up it was too late to return to Target. I contacted Black and Decker and they want me to send MORE MONEY to them to receive a replacement under warrenty. They also expect me to cut off the cord of my iron and mail it to them. Then I will be out additional shipping and have no iron to use at all, and I don't trust a replacement to be any better!

This Black & Decker Steam Iron is superb. I've always trusted on B&D, this one is light and glides so nicely. A crisp and clean clean edge on my husbands shirts and my slacks. Steam output is just right, no drops of water, just steam. Lovely!

The only reason this iron doesn't get 5 stars is that it doesn't have steam setting for low to medium heats or a retractable cord. But for the price, it is well worth it. However, everything else about it is far above average. I have recently moved out "on my own" and first bought the cheapest iron I could find. After almost ruining several items with it, I knew I needed to actually spend money on an iron. I have [...] homekeeping handbook and it lists qualities of an iron you should look for when buying one. This iron matched everything it said and wasn't [a lot of money], so, I thought I'd try it first and I'm really glad I did! I almost laughed when I first used it because the steam it puts out is incredible (I had it on the highest steam setting). Which is something else to mention, this iron has so many different heat and steam settings. My old one had, maybe, 3. haha And the user manual it comes with is well written, concise, and easy to follow. It also looks much nicer than this online picture portrays. All in all, this iron works very well and has all the qualities most people would need or be looking for. I'd definitely recommend this iron.
