I purchased this as a time and money saver. The reality is that it takes 15-20 mins to minimize, not remove, even a few wrinkles. For fine material like silk or cotton shirts the steam simply relaxed the material but it didn't set it like an iron. So wrinkles were simply less visible but remained with a memory to reset shortly after wearing again. By mid-morning by clothing looked just as it did before steaming. Steam was sporadic in both intensity and heat - sometimes there's steam, sometimes water, sometimes nothing. I don't blame Conair. It's a symptom of price. I don't believe any manufacturer can make a true professional steamer at this price. Bottom line - you have to understand value of your time vs cost of dry cleaners. Based on what my time is worth, a dry cleaner is the better option.

This Conair Garment Steamer is durable, practical, and economical. This is the second Conair Steamer I've purchased. My other one still works perfectly, but I bought a second one to use at my tailoring shop for professional use on customer's clothing. I'd recommend this product to anyone seeking professional grade at a casual price.

I bought this before reading other reviews and am glad I did. This thing is fantastic. It relieves the boredom of ironing, lessens the time to get your clothes wrinkle free. What used to take 45 mins now takes 10! I keep it in my closet, plug it in, steam and go. The only thing I didn't realize was how HOT it got. I'm thinking about wearing gloves. A terrific little perk -- since I travel alot, I'm concerned about this awful bedbug outbreak. Now I don't worry. I just steam anything I'm worried about and know the offending little critters are gone.

Great for Bedding/Curtains, Not so Great for Dress Clothes

In terms of ergonomics and quality of materials, Conair cheaped out a bit more than I would've liked. While both hose attachments are durably built and snap securely into the top of the hose, steam is still able to escape and scald your hands if you angle the attachments the wrong way while steaming garments. The creasing attachment does not grip the fabric firmly enough either. The useless, "vestigial" wheel on the bottom of the plastic base makes this a chore to move around, which i s probably for the best considering the more you move the unit, the more the flimsy metal support pole must be tightened into the base to ensure the unit doesn't come crashing down around you. Bottom line: the unit is top heavy! Another thing: the electric cord is too short, so have an extension cord on hand just in case.Hanging the hose up on top is easy, and the unit moves 360 degrees in 4 fixed intervals - just make sure the attachment isn't pointed at your face! There's no mechanism to control the steam output so the only way to ebb the flow of hot, scalding steam is to shut the unit off or move the unit away from your face. Sounds simple enough, but when you're busy ironing, you tend to forget small details like that! The results of using the Conair steamer save this machine from being a total loss. My bedding went from crinkled and puffy to flat and silky in less than 10 minutes. An iron and ironing board cannot promise such dramatic results in such a short period of time. Its really quite amazing. If, like me, you're super neurotic about folding your bedding and you long for a fast, convenient way of zapping the wrinkles from larger items such as sheets and curtains, then the Conair Deluxe Garment Steamer may be a worthwhile investment. If you're just looking to steam dress shirts and slacks, and could care less about wrinkles in your flat sheets and curtains, youre better off to pass on this machine - a traditional flat iron will meet your needs much more effectively.

This steamer does not produce enough steam. You have to three times as much time to try to steam something than to iron it. I have used a steamer in my fashion design classes that REALLY steams. It will shoot out blasts of steams and gets out any wrinkles very quickly. This one does hardly anything. I went over and over wrinkles and they still didn't come out. Also the hose gets really hot and is not safe. Obviously these other people who reviewed it have not used a steamer that really works go od before. I'm going to have to take my wedding dress to the cleaners to have it steamed now. This is definitely NOT commercial grade. It's going back.

Love it!

I have both a very expensive steamer on a stand and then I purchased this one for its light weight portability. I used it for three straight weeks while reorganizing and steaming 3 walk in closets full of clothes. I did not have one issue with it. It starts to steam almost immediately. The hanger and pant clips do a great job. For those that had trouble with droplets perhaps they do not keep the wand and garment in a high enough position to allow the steam to flow freely. I would highly recomme nd this steamer.

I'm really surprised at the bad reviews for this. I've had this steamer for about 2-3 years now and I've absolutely loved it, until this calcium build-up problem. I've tried various ways to decalcify (white vinegar, others) but I'm at the point of giving up and just buying a new one. However, I've had this for quite a while and am just at this point now, so it's been a really good run. If people are frustrated with performance they might want to look at the material they're trying to press like linen or linen blends (can't even do those well with a regular iron). Good product though and would buy again...would give it 3 1/2 stars just because I wish there was a better decalcifier than smelly white vinegar!

I bought this for my wedding dress and bridesmaid's dresses for my wedding. It was either buy this or spend [..] for a professional to steam that would take at least a month! My girls helped me out, I had a white towel and rubber band to cover the nozzle to prevent water droplets. (I read online that this happens with most professional steamers.) We read the directions and kept the nozzle upright while we worked. We were able to steam my dress made of satin, three bridesmaid dresses, and my moth er's chenille top! Everything worked well and it helped to make my wedding beautiful.

I just purchased this item today because it was on sale; I'm glad I didn't pay full price. I found that the water from the container leaks considerably and you end up with wet feet as you steam iron. Drops of HOT water also leak on your hands/arms! The amount of steam is productive--if you don't mind putting 10-15 minutes extra time on top of what it would have taken you to iron the darn thing in the first place. It does not leave a crisp crease, as with an iron. The whole appliance is so light -weight that if you try to move the stiff hose around to steam the sides or back of your garment, it tends to tip over. Otherwise, it works fine on fabric that can burn more easily with an iron: e.g., silk, rayon, cashmere, etc. So, if you have very quick reflexes and don't mind having wet feet and a semi-pressed garment, then this is the right item for you!

I have been trying to steam press a single shirt for 15 min.

I just bought this today and am returning it tomorrow. I have been trying to press the same shirt for 15 minutes at least now. The head is leaking out burning hot water all over and when the cord bends (which is often) it makes an awful sound and the steam stops coming out. Just spend the extra money to buy a high end one.
