We purchased 2 of these mugs @ the same time, about 5 mo's ago (1Pink/1Black). The reason for the purchase was due to the advertised "spill & leak-proof" design. Unfortunately, the weakest point of the whole mug is "this" part of the design. The flip-up seal which covers the drinking hole is made very poor, compared to the "durable" design of the rest of the mug. The cheap plastic pivots of the flip-up break off, losing the seal and leaking, as there are 2 smal
l o-rings which come off when this breaks. You may also loose the entire piece when it breaks. This pivot is a very poor design as other plastic parts of it are also cracking. [...]I can screw a cheap cap on and off a $[...] water bottle and make it last for 3 mo's. Unless the design is changed, the new lid will only last approx 3-6mo's, depending on use. Contigo needs to spend a little more attention to putting the "Extreme" into the lid, as they did the rest of the mug. Summary, due to the design, you will be disappointed, having spent $[...] for something you would think would last for at least a couple of years. 90days is it! Leaking the truth.
The Contigo brand is the only insulated cup that I have ever ( oh, yeah-I have tried them all!) found that truly keeps drinks hot and doesn't leak. Remember they do need to be hand washed.They offer several varieties ( handles-no handles) and they come in fun colors; a great buy for your money!
