Delano Narrow Bookcase - Antique Black product details page

This is a very attractive bookcase, but I had nothing but problems ever since I took it out of the box. First the instructions only have pictures. There's no text whatsoever! Second, after finally putting it together, which is darn near impossible doing it alone, the bookcase is extremely wobbly! Everything is screwed in tight, so I don't understand why that is. This will be the last piece of furniture I will put together. It certainly is not worth the money to me.

Let me start by saying how EXCITED I was to find these bookcases at such a bargain. Unfortunatly I bought two and BOTH ended up wobbly & the drawers dont even fit. NOT worth the money.

A physician needed to add a narrow book shelf in his new office. This book shelf arrived in perfect condition, was easy to assemble and looked exactly as described. He was very happy!

This narrow black bookcase was exactly what we were looking for to put beside a new black entertainment center for the 42 inch HD TV. It is a great size for family photos or knicknacks. Very stylish and both modern and antique looking, a nice complement to our living room. Easy to put together once we got the 'hang of it'...

I have five pieces in the Delano collection. This one was a bit challenging to put together but I survived. I actually use this in my dining room but it would also be great in an office.

I purchsed two of these bookcases for a room used as a spare bedroom and office combined. The tall, open design is great so that the room does not look crowded. good construction. it does take a while to put together but is a great piece of furniture. my only complaint is that the inner side walls of the bottom drawer is short so the drawer is more shallow than you would think. I have had my bookcase for about two years now and I love it. It is sturdy and looks great. We anchored it to the wall to keep my daughter from pulling it down onto herself. The only downside is having to dust all the "X"'s on the side, but when they are dusted it looks great!

Nice narrow bookcase. It is sturdy and I love the 'x' on the side - Works great in an open floor plan as it doesn't chop the room up.... It keeps the open feel. The directions were easy enough to follow. Matching the 2nd side up was a bit of a trick but I managed to put the entire thing together by myself. It has a nice, well fitted back piece and the drawer glides smoothly. I was not crazy about the handle so I asked my husband to replace that with a dome shape handle. I also [...] grabbed a 3 rack under the cabinet wine glass holder and got the handy hubby to attach it to the top shelf... made myself a little wine shelf on the top. Just remember, the shelves do NOT adjust on this. Did not matter to me but might to some. Ample height for big/oversized books. I am very pleased with this for the money. Once again Target has come through with a solid bookcase! I also like the small reddish colored distressed marks on it... Ties beautifully with my other black furniture from other stores with the same distress look.

I saw the reviews of several others and braced myself when I took a chance on buying this. Well the many other reviews were ever so right ! SO glad I read them.I prepared for this heck of a job by getting both my brother and my husband to work on putting the bookcases together, with me sidewalk supervising, and doing some of the labor as well. It took close to 3 hours for us to get the first one done. We called it a day and the guys put the second bookcase together in about half the time the ne xt morning. In several places, there clearly ought to be some basic written information to clarify what is in the drawings. There are places in the drawings that explode out the smaller details like which kinds of screws or pins are to go where, that are way to small. Ironically, because there are several different kinds of fasteners per side or shelf, this things is rock solid, but joining the side together is a teeth gritting experience.The look, the weight and styling of this furniture is terrific, just what I wanted. But if you choose to buy this, get a good nights rest, be in a calm mood and absolutely have at least one other person helping you put this together. At least one other. And 2 would be better.Know that another, much smaller, national chain, "import" style store has the exact same product under a different name, but for about $40 more, so this is a good buy as well. They just happen to have the T.V. console that goes between the two bookcases, which Target needs to carry, but I had to buy it from World ..... Now I have a super classy entertainment unit.

Well, after getting this thing together which was one of the largest pains in the world (thrilled my marriage survived it!) It is simply great. I get compliments on it all the time. It's just that the holes don't all line up perfectly as it is with most furniture you have to assemble yourself. It was worth it in the end for me!
