Please do not buy these steps. I had bought them and my beagle kept getting his toenails caught in the hole underneath the covering. He pulled out 2 of his toenails. It cost me a fortune to get one of his toes taken off since it broke the bone. I took a hammer and beat this item to pieces and went and bought a solid piece so he would not get his toe nails caught in it.
I cannot begin to explain how Target came to my rescue with these Deluxe Doggy Steps. I had been using an equine mounting block to assist my old, arthritic shepherd to get in/out of my car. The mounting block helped my dog but nearly killed my back to lift in and out. The mounting block was very heavy, very awkward, and would only fit in the car one way. Someone showed me their Deluxe Doggy Steps but they could not remember where they got them and I could not find them in any store. When I quie
ried online, I was delighted to see them on Target's online shopping screen. Ordering was fast and easy and the steps came in a very timely manner. Now both me and my dog are enjoying these very user-friendly doggy steps. My old dog gets in and out of the car by herself and I can easily lift the steps anywhere I need them. Could not put together entirely, as the cross-bar was manufactured incorrectly and could not be attached to the step backs. Using this without the cross-bar would make it very unstable and dangerous for dogs to climb. The plastic base seems strong enough, but flexed very easily while putting it together [...].
Built well enough for intended purpose.Worth the money if you can get your dog to use it as most will require some getting use to it. My Jack Russell will not go near it even for a treat.So work with your dog & it will do it's job.Definately more bang for your buck than those higher priced ones that do the same job.Go go it!
People must read the print (size, height, weight limit, etc!) My 25 lb. 13 year old dog who has trouble with his rear legs uses these to get on our couches. They are not high enough for the bed, but you can order the extension for them. I screwed mine into a small wood pallet, covered it with fabric & he can now reach the bed. As for them slipping out, I have hard wood floors, but put a throw rug or shelf liner under them & they won't move. I tried others that took up way too much room
& even more that he wouldn't use. Personally, these are the only ones that work for my dog. I have 3 sets!

My 2 Chihuahuas and toy poodle LOVE these steps! Sure, the top step is not quite up to the height of the bed and it takes them a little jump to get up, but they have no problem! We have been using this on the couch, and tested it on the bed and it works great! We bought our first steps some years ago and have not been dissatisfied. We just ordered another for the bed since moving the first set back and forth has become a pain. It took the Chihuahuas all of 2 minutes to run up the steps and leap
onto the bed. The slide on their bellies until their front paws touch the top step to get down. Now I don't have to wait for them to come to bed and pick them up, they just run up the stairs, burrow under the covers and that's that. Way cool!!
They worked out well. She learned how to use the first 10mins. She now gets up on the bed without us getting up in the middle of the night to put her back in bed...yea! sleeping thru the night!!
