This was one of the best gifts we received off of our baby registry. My son is now 3 months old, and this is something we use daily. Its simple step-on mechanism is great so you can use one hand. There's no pushing on a ... see more

We just put our new one together, after having one 5 years ago with my first child. This time around, the plastic container does not line up to close. Maybe they are making it with thinner and cheaper plastic than it used to be? Perhaps we got a dud, but we have to take it back. There is no way I'm going to wrestle the Diaper Genie closed every time I have to take out the bag.

I have used the Diaper Genie Disposal system with all three of my kids - ages 12 years, 3 years and 9 months. I just found out the genie I have was discontinued and I can no longer get the refills. At first I was really upset because I didn't want to purchase a new system and refills, but then I realized I hadn't been using the system for a while. I have a small trash can in my son's room and we've all been putting the dirty diapers in there and at the end of the day take the trash either to th e kitchen trash can or outside. I've actually saved money by not finding the refills. If you can, save your money and just take the dirty diapers out - they don't start smelling really bad until solid foods anyway.

It's basically a trash bag for diapers. What is so wrong with your NORMAL trash can? Your trash stinks anyways and you most likely take it out daily, so why not add the diapers to your trash?

We go this as a gift and use it, but it is no better than a trash can. It does not keep the stink in. We had to move it out of my daughter's room so her room didn't stink. I kinda wish we would have tried the basic genie that twist off each individual diaper. This just has a plastic flap that is supposed to hold the smell in. Try something else.

We got this at our baby shower, and we love it. I had a little difficulty assembling it, but it is easy to empty and does a great job of preventing dirty diapers from making our daughter's room smelly. Every once in a while, the lid stays up, but this has always been easy for us to fix.

We got this diaper genie for our baby shower and it really has been a lifesaver. We keep it right by the changing table and when you have a wiggly baby its easy to just use your foot to open it and toss in the diaper. It's really easy to empty and it does a great job keeping the dirty diaper smell contained.

There is a flaw in the top part of the Lid where it will get caught and stay open. If you force it down the plastic piece will break and it wont work anymore. Be careful and don't do this.

I bought one of these when I was expecting my little one. However you can do without one of these and get cheaper disposals systems such as the perfumed diaper disposal bags and throw it in the dustbin as you would do with everything else. The refills are 9 bucks and will last about 3 months depending how many changes you are doing.Expensive and definitely a nice to have in my books.
