Mature Rating: Mature - Blood and Gore, Nudity, Use of Drugs and Alcohol, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, Mature Humor, Intense Violence

Put on your sunglasses and prepare to step into the boots of Duke Nukem, whose legend has reached epic proportions in the years since his last adventure. The alien hordes are back and only Duke can save the world, again. Pig cops, alien shrink rays and enormous alien bosses won't stop our hero from accomplishing his one and only goal: to save the world, save the babes and to be a badass while doing it. The King of All Shooters is back with over-the-top weapons, massive aliens and unprecedented levels of interactivity. This game puts pedal to the metal and tongue firmly in cheek, among other places. Shoot hoops, lift weights, read adult magazines, draw crude messages on whiteboards or ogle one of the many beautiful women that populate Duke's life; that is if you can pull yourself away long enough from kicking ass and taking names. Duke Nukem was and will forever be immortalized in gaming history, and this is his legend. Experience the action and creativity derived from the pedigree of one of gaming's most innovative and respected developers.

Duke Nukem Forever brings back the king of action in a highly anticipated game set to pummel players with unprecedented interactivity, variety, realism, and Duke's special whoop-****** brand of humor. The first in-house Duke Nukem game by 3D Realms since Duke Nukem 3D, Duke Nukem Forever promises to deliver an intense and hysterical FPS experience, with stunningly detailed characters in expansive interactive maps. Motion captured animation and realistic area-sensitive damage take realism to scary new heights, and make picking off those alien ****** all the more fun.

Rumored to be planned for release on consoles as well as PC, this game had been (if you haven't been following gaming news throughout the many eras and epochs that this game has been in the works) the perpetually-anticipated fourth in the series. The game's development saga is legendary, including a switch from the Quake engine to the Unreal engine and a string of unofficial release dates that stretch from 1998 to 20006 and beyond. Technically, developer 3D Realms had always promised the release of Duke Nukem Forever, "When it's done."

Unfortunately, there does not appear to be a point on the horizon for when Duke Nukem Forever will be done. After over 12 years of development, the game production (as of this writing in May of 2009) unfortunately has ceased progress. It is unknown if the project will be finished at a later time by 3D Realms or another developer -- Take-Two Interactive still retains the publishing rights to Duke Nukem Forever but developer 3D Realms maintains the franchise rights and that company hit dire financial straits in 2009 and was forced to shut its doors.

Fans of Duke Nukem 3d should be pleased with this addition to the series -- minus a few imperfections. To start off with the good, I find this game to be reasonably challenging. If you play this on Normal or Hard, you will most likely be sufficiently challenged by the Alien AI. To top it off, the developers did a really good job of making the levels complex, and you will most likely get stuck in quite a few areas trying to figure out how to move forward. Basically the game plays like Duke Nukem 3d except with overhauled graphics and a much more immersive atmosphere. There are some major changes to the playstyle though that some of you may love or hate. First, you can only carry 2 weapons at a time (similar to CoD), and your Health (called 'Ego') now regens similar to shields on Halo. In my opinion Duke Nukem Forever does a great job borrowing traits from Halo/CoD while maintaing the Duke Nukem feel to the game. Now for the bad... The graphics aren't the greatest for a 2011 game, but they are still decent in my opinion, and the game visually looks pretty good. Also, the beginning of the game was painfully slow and took a while to get going. Lastly, loading screens take about 45 seconds which is utterly ridiculous, and is probably my #1 gripe with this game.Despite its imperfections the game is a lot of fun, and if you are a Duke Nukem fan you will undoubtedly enjoy this addition to the series.
