This was VERY noisy right out of the box. I am giving it a try, but would not buy again.

I came across this product on clearance at target and thought i would try it out. Two weeks ago I bought a pre-owned truck which had been smoked in for 6 years. The smell was so overwhelming that I could not go longer than 20 minutes in it. I cracked the window enough to put the extension cord through and let the germ guardian run over night. In the morning when I checked on it there was no smell. I ran the truck with the heater on to circulate the air through the vents (while the germ guardian was on) for about ten minutes to see if it would produce any smell. It did put out a very slight smell of smoke. I ran it again the next night and it smelt great in the morning. This product worked wonders. I forgot to mention that before purchasing I detailed every entire surface of the interior twice! I also put baking soda and vinegar in the truck to get out the smell. nothing worked like this little machine.

"That little thing is it?" That's what I said when I saw it at the store. Yes it is. I only just bought this 40 minutes ago and I already notice a significant difference. I live in studio apartment with two cats. The odor from the litter box was overwhelming the small space and the dust accumulation was ridiculous. I'll write again in a couple of weeks with an update. So far it's GREAT!

I am very impressed with this little machine. After turning this unit on I noticed how fresh the air smelled. I have two Holmes purifers and there is not comparison. I plan to replace the Holmes units with these. The only reason I could not give this a 5 star rating is that it is the noise. I can not run this unit in my bedroom at night (even on low) due to the sound. Even with this, I will be buying more.

I bought this purifier for my bedroom on a whim [...]. So far it's working out well. The air in my bedroom has never smelled better. I haven't needed to use my asthma inhaler when I wake up since setting up this machine on my nightstand with the air vent aimed at my pillow. One main drawback is it's a bit louder than I would prefer, even on the lowest setting. All three settings sound about the same to me actually... like a muffled, far away lawnmower. The main difference between them is the fo rce of the purified air coming out the front. The air flow cools down the room noticeably which I didn't expect from such a small machine. It'll be nice in the summer. It's also important to note that the UV bulb isn't replaceable so if it stops working you will have to replace the whole machine. Only giving it 4 stars due to the UV design issue and the noise factor. If the sound it made was a bit softer and the UV bulb replaceable then I'd give this 5 stars for sure.

I loved the idea of this little machine! It had everything I wanted (HEPA filter, UV Light to kill germs and mold, it was very small and quiet).... except, after one month of use (approximately 14 hrs a day during my children's naps and nighttime sleep), we started getting this horrible noise coming from it. It started happening when I turned it on high so that I could clean out the room a little better, after just getting new carpet (tired to get the VOCs and odor out of the room). After about a day on high, it started making the horrible noise (like the noise you hear during the Emergency Broadcast System test, but only constant). It happened while on high or low setting, so I returned it. I also was a little concerned that you are not allowed to look into the fan area, because the UV light can damage your eyes. My kids are 2 and 4, so trying to tell them not to look in there was a major problem... they wanted to see the "blue light" that illuminated the vent area. Oh, and from what I've seen on other websites, you can't buy a replacement UV light for this thing when it burns out... which could be months or years after you buy it.So bummed that this didn't work out for us... now trying to find something like it, that's also reasonable in price.

This air purifier is fahhbulous! The filtration system is comprised of charcoal, HEPA, and PCO filters and the UV light tube works to kill germs! I am awfully allergic to dust and pet hair, and my most problematic allergic reaction is shortness of breath, and in some cases, an asthma attack. My bedroom is particularly dusty- I have to clean everything in the room at least once a week to keep that filth at bay! I also have a precious pet rabbit, Deputy BunBun. He is very large(about 12 pounds) a nd extremely furry! He shares the bedroom with me, as he is my partner in crime (fighting!), so I also have to run the vacuum 2-3 times a week to keep his fur out of the air! I plugged the Germ Guardian in and placed it about three feet away from my bed. I immediately noticed the clean (but very light) scent that was emitted as the purified air exited! For the first time in many years, I got a full night of sleep without having to wake up and take that gawd-awful asthma inhaler. I plan on purchasing the plug in air sanitizer as well! At last, Deputy BunBun and I can breathe the clean air we deserve!Dust, dander, mold spores, plant pollens, particles, bacteria, germs... You are under arrest!!!

I purchased this purifier last week, and I can't remember when I have slept so well! It does make some noise, but it doesn't bother myself or my husband. I couldn't believe this was the cause for my good sleep at first, so I left it off one night. I didn't sleep well at all! We have a dog and a cat and our bedroom seems to get dusty very quickly. I can tell a difference in the air as soon as I walk in my bedroom. I am going to get one for each of my kids rooms as well. I have the plug-in air sa nitizer in my baby's room, which I also love.

I travel from time to time and being in a hotel is often a setback for me. Rooms in hotels are not as clean as they may appear. I recently stayed in a hotel and purchased this prior to packed it and let it run a few hours before I went to bed. I had the best nights sleep in a year. I am going to purchase more for my home-one in each room. I own a honeywell cleaner now but I am persuaded that this little machine is more powerful in killing dustmites and bacteria than my larger one.I have a chron ic lung condition and all it takes is one little thing to set me back at this price it is cheap insurance.Anyone out there with COPD, Asthma, Rare Lung disorders this is a must have!!!
