The night I bought this spoon set I decided to use them to cook dinner. One of the spoons did in fact splinter off a piece of the wood on one side--On that first night! Oh how frustrated I was! Didn't even bother to return them back... Less than a week later, the other spoon did the same thing. I just said forget it and tossed them out. That was actually about 6 months ago. Sad to say but every time I see Giada on TV, I think of those spoons... Not good...

Seems these spoons are not consistent in the way they are made. I got them as a Christmas gift and one has chipped and splintered already while the other still looks brand new. Neither has sat in water for a prolonged amount of time and both have been used the same amount.

Very disappointed...

I received these as a wedding shower gift. They were great to start with but quickly faded and the top of the spoon began to split. I always hand washed them carefully and never let them soak in water. I would not recommend them.

I received these as a bridal shower gift. I have had other bamboo products and I hated them. When I received these spoons I thought " oh no another bamboo product" but I love them. These are the first spoons I pick for cooking in my kitchen. Absolutely love them.

I just moved into my new home 2 months ago. My mother in law purchased these spoons for my kitchen. One of them has lost its smooth finish and is splitting already. I'm now gentle with the other spoon, which is absurd since this is what its suppose to be used in all kitchen use. I'm very disappointed with this product.

I was so excited to finally be purchasing wooden spoons that I thought would make cooking more fun. I used one of them about three times and a piece of the tip chipped off into my food. The next time I used them, both sides splintered off into my soup. I was highly disappointed and wish I had read the reviews on these spoons before I wasted my money.

I have used these spoons for about a month, and absolutely love them! They are heavy duty; I have cracked many cheaper wooden spoons in the past but no problems with these (and I am using them in the same manner that has caused other cheaper spoons to crack). I was surprised to see all the other reviews complainting of splintering, because I have not had that problem. I use these for everything from mixing heavy doughs to stirring chili as it simmers. In addition, I always put them in the dishw asher even though the instructions say hand wash. They still look like new, strong and smooth. Not even the slightest bit discolored, despite repeated use in tomato-based chilis and sauces. It sounds like I got a completely different set of spoons from many of the other reviewers!

I bought these spoons a few weeks ago. Prior to their first use I gave them several coats of a good food grade mineral oil to help preserve the wood. Upon first use in a crock-pot of hot soup one of the spoons started to discolor immediately. There also appears to be some kind of a finish that is wearing off the paddle part of the spoon that was dipped in the hot soup. Considering they're manufactured in China who knows what this finish is composed of. Can't recommend these spoons and am consid ering tossing them out.

I bought these spoons less than a year ago and they are all splintery. My one bamboo spoon from Pampered Chef that I've had for 6 or 7 years is still in one piece. This could be due to the fact that it is one piece of wood, not glued like these. Cannot recommend.
