This was great at first, but after about 4 uses the ice cream started being hard as a rock on the sides of the bowl. I finally realized the bowl had cracked in the freezer! I had handled it so carefully too. I got my mon ... see more

This is a great product. It makes ice cream in about 10 minutes. I haven't tried making frozen yogurt yet. It does make a small portion, but enough for two or three people. The ice cream tastes like it did when I was a little kid and my parents made homemade ice cream.

The best!

I was becoming addicted to ice cream....bad for the waistline, so moved to frozen yogurt..bad for the pocketbook. I got this product, took a Chobani honey or vanilla small carton, added some non-fat milk to thin it and a tsp of sugar and voila, high protein, low calories, portion control and if you want, other flavors with fruit, too. It come out perfect if you follow the directions and you will easily figure out the proportion of milk, how quickly to put the lid on, how long to have it stirr ing and I bet you will love it, too. Oikos and { retailer } Greek yogurt good too, { retailer } plain isn't so good, Yoplait ok. Haven't tried regular yogurt because Greek is higher protein.

Good for making small portions.

I bought this for my MIL's birthday. We tried it out together and it worked fine. The ice cream came out a little soft after 15 minutes in the machine, so we froze it a little while in the freezer. Turned out creamy and delicious. However if you are going to serve more than four people you need a larger capacity ice cream maker.

I'm really happy with this product. I can put a container of healthy yogurt in it and enjoy frozen yogurt 10 minutes later. Makes enough for 2 and has an extra bowl. Well worth the price .Easy enough for kids to use.

Gave this as a birthday gift. Recipient LOVED it. It's nice to find an ice cream maker that won't leave you with a ton of leftovers to sit in the freezer.

Mostly what I was looking for...

The first time I used this, it was great and my kids immediately gobbled up the ice cream. After that, I tried a few different recipes that didn't contain sugar, but contained an artificial sweetener. It's the only thing I can think of that makes it harden to the walls (like hard ice cream, not homemade or soft-serve) and the lid not stay on. I wish there was a latch to make it stay on, but that would probably kill my motor. It is great for me to share with my kids, when we each just need a lit tle something sweet.

When I asked my 5 year old great niece what she would like for her birthday, she said "an ice cream maker". We did not know why she asked for that or where she had gotten the idea. I checked the websites of several stores and Target offered the most choices. The Hamilton Beach Ice Cream Maker seemed to be a good deal. With Mommie's help she and her sisters made and enjoyed a cool, delicious treat and are looking forward to more.

Day 2 and we're on our 5th recipe - this ROCKS!

I rode my bike to buy this at Target because I KNEW I'd be needing to work off some of the ice cream we've been making. So far we've made mint chocolate chip, vanilla, chai tea ice cream AND fresh blackberry frozen yogurt. This is easy, fast, and cleans up very well. I love it!

This is great for limited freezer space. I am happy with if just for the convenience.Tips on use:If using in warm weather, put 2 flexible (or small) ice packs around the base and then put an insulated lunch bag over the top to keep it cooler. (otherwise will be more soupy) Works great in the garage in the winter...Best to make an hour or 2 ahead of serving so it can firm up in freezer. If possible, put the 2nd bowl upside down over filled bowl.Note, the bowl will break if it falls out of the fr eezer!.I wish hamilton beach would sell extra bowls. I had to buy another unit.
