I'm originally from Europe and we used to "Raclette" a couple of times a year. This past Christmas I bought this item from Target.com to entertain my American in-laws. I bought steak, chicken, veal, porc and cut it real thin for on the grill. [...]I then also bought bell peppers, mushrooms, baguette bread, little cocktail onions, and french cornichons.Everybody really enjoyed it. I love the design and functionality of this raclette machine. I lived in France and had one for several years and this one is just as good as the European models. Happy partying!
To be honest, I wasn't expecting much from this grill... I owned an authentic raclette while living in europe and just assumed i'd have to pay much more than 100$ to get anything comparable in the states. we've used this three times now and love it! it's quite large, the teflon is good quality and cleans in a snap, and the temperature dial is great - much better than other models with just a low/high option. we've already bought another one to give to a friend as a gift and plan to buy more for
christmas. one suggestion for the purchaser - find some bamboo tongs, picks, spatulas, etc - i threaten my guests with bodily harm if they go near the grille with metal utensils (just kidding) - but seriously, you need a little help to flip vegies, meat, etc on the top of the grille.
