The toy itself is as durable as the pets. However, my husband and I noticed that adding a "human" to the playset changed the dynamic of play. Rather than the pets being the "VOICE" of the game, Blythe now becomes the owner/caretaker, thus, taking away the imaginative play of the pets being in their own world and interacting with eachother. We much prefer the open interaction and imagination that is possible when the pets all have a voice rather than being "pets".
