Had two of these the first one would not turn off. Target exchanged it for me. The second one, did the same only this time it started smoking. This item can be dangerous. Good when you first get it, not good after a couple months. Save your money for something else.

Bought this item because the one I wanted was out of stock and i desperately needed a heater. No soon than I toss the receipt does this thing break down. Had it for LESS than one month before it broke. Being the Electrical Engineer that I am and the fact that I already threw away the receipt I took the unit apart to see why the power switch suddenly broke and see if I could repair it. Found out that the unit is so cheap that the power switch casing that houses the controls for the off, low and high setting was made out of PLASTIC!!!!! After leaving the unit on for more than 4 hours on high the housing MELTED!!!!! Don't waste your money on this!!!!I will never buy another Holmes Heater again.

I got this for a medium size room. I tried to avoid fan based electric heaters because of the noise. I found this one which is extremely quite. However, it took forever to heat up if to use medium setting, but tripped my switch using high setting. Because it is so quite, it was left on in several occasions for a whole day. It is hard to control the temperature by a knob that requires a lot of testing. One time, the room was about a few degrees F warmer than other unheated rooms when indoo r temp was about low 60s, even I accidentally left it on for overnight!

i bought this because my old heater had broken. I bought similar ones like this one in the past, and it is smaller than the previous ones i had. I thought it wouldn't be as good, but.. IT IS! It also is very light. I had no problems with mine. I usually keep it on the low setting and turn the other dial about half way, and it heats the room perfectly. It heats up quick, and within 30 or so mins the room is comfortably nice and warm!

We have had this heater for a year and love it. We have not had any problems with it but I do not turn the dials on all the way up. I am guessing this might be why some people have had problems. You should be able to turn them all the way up but we have never needed to. It heats our bedrooms and living areas just fine on a lower setting where it heats up turns off, cools down and heats up again.

As stated on the box, this type of heater doesn't provide an instant, fast heat but rather a slow steady heat. I have it in a fairly large master bedroom and it heats the room sufficiently on the low setting - not even turned all the way up.I haven't had any problems with it malfunctioning. I did see that the Honeywell low-profile heater, which looks nearly exactly like the Holmes, has several reviews stating problems with it malfunctioning; so, I avoided it.

Catches on fire!!! Do not buy!

Not only does it not heat an entire room like it claims to but it catches on fire!!! We just bought this a week ago and the knobs are melted. All of a sudden, it started smoking so we are going to take it back.
