Our older child was given a LeapPad at Christmas that has worked great. We decided to buy one for our younger child's birthday two weeks ago. It became obvious within a few days it is defective. Freezes, must take out and reinsert batteries every few minutes and it will say drained in less than 30 minutes and shut off. With the box gone I contacted LeapFrog for assistance. I was given a cut and paste response telling me how to put batteries with the final part being if it doesn't work with batt eries to buy their adaptor. I responded I wanted it fixed to work like our first LeapPad. 5 days later and they will not help, only say they are sorry I'm not happy with their customer service. I am shocked and disappointed. If you get a good one great, but if it is defective don't expect help. [$]plus tax out the window.

A fun toy that reinforces learning.

My four year old daughter has lots of fun with this. Nicer than the Leapster. Nice screen images and the games are entertaining and educational. Uses 4 AA batteries but if you buy the rechargeable and a charger that is not an issue with battery changes. Would recommend setting up an account on line and connecting the Leapster. Very nice.

My 4 year old got this for Christmas and by the end of January the video function stopped working properly. No sound on new videos but old videos were fine. I contacted Leap Frog customer service and they suggested a fix but it was only temporary. Here we are in February and it's back to know sound on new videos and will randomly shut off when in video or picture mode. It seems to work fine when she plays games from a cartridge. She loves making videos and taking pictures and the apps that go a long with these. But unfortunately it doesn't work properly. Huge disappointment!

Great toy overall. My daughter hasn't put it down since I got one before Christmas. We recently found one in our local target for our 1 year old side they both were fighting over the one. Keeps them busy in car doctors and everything. She has learned so much in such little time. Great investment.

Bought this for my daughter's birthday. Connected to the computer to download the free app which it did, then wouldn't connect to any computer after that. I have purchased apps sitting on my Leap Frog account that I can't download onto it because it won't connect to the Leap Frog website. 2 weeks working with Leap Frog tech support has done nothing but frustrate me. I'm ready to exchange it but I can't find them in stock anywhere to exchange.

When we first started playing with the game it froze, and had trouble starting up the first day. I called leapfrog and they gave me the option of mailing it back to them for a new one or returning it back to the store I purchased the item from. Instead if returning the item purchased the recommended batteries, which was the Duracell plus and it has been working excellent. The batteries lasted for 3 days straight before going dead and my daughter played with it for several ours a day. I have now purchased the re- chargeable batteries and I am in love.

Was an excellent choice for my granddaughter for Christmas. Great grapics and durable. These kids will be using these devices and better for their life - get them in training now! The stylus helps with chubby fingers but you do have to keep track of them! The games are entertaining and educational!

My husband and I bought a LeapPad Purple for our 3 yo daughter for Christmas. I set it up before I wrapped it. On Christmas day she played with it for about an hour. Then it started freezing up. She could pick her profile and play a few minutes of a game and then it would freeze again. To make it turn off I would have to take out the batteries. I called Leapfrog for help to fix it. I "repaired" it on the parent account. Turned it on and it froze on the start up screen. I called LeapFr og back. She wanted me to "reset" it. During the reset, the LeapPad froze and blacked out. The reset was interupted and then it wouldn't reconnect to the parent account. So I returned it to the store I bought with hopes of getting a new one. And like every other place 50 miles around it was out of stock. My daughter loved the toy while she could play it. However 20 min was the most use she could get out of it. Maybe once they work out the bugs this toy will be great...

Got one for my niece who LOVES this tablet for her birthday and also got one to give to my daughter this Christmas. Just a quick heads-up, make sure you get the LeapPad set up BEFORE you give to your child on Christmas. All the set-up and downloads take about 45 minutes...and if your child is anything like mine they won't want to wait for this process and instead play with it as soon as they open it! Packaging was pretty easy so I was able to set-up the tablet and then slide it back into i t's original packaging to be wrapped.
