This is a great TV for the money. I was looking for good bargain, I found it with the Mangnavox 40" LCD TV. Overall I am highly pleased with my purchased. Sound is not the great, but at this price it was no deal breaker. If your looking for a great TV without all the Tec bells and whistles this would be a great buy.

This is the second Magnavox my family has purchased and I'm extremely happy with the television as well as the cost. I actually purchased this model 2 months ago when it was about [$] cheaper than the price currently listed. In addition to the cheaper list price I received my 5 percent discount by using my Target RedCard. It made it a great deal. The picture is great and the sound quality it wonderful. On some of the HD stations, it sounds like we have surround sound in the room. The on ly down side was that I had to puchase another wall mount as the one I currently had was not larger enough to hold the tv but that's where my savings came in. I was able to purchase both for under 400 dollars. THANKS TARGET

Just bought this over the weekend, installed the stand,i dont have a wall mount nor do i want one, and i had it set up watching tv within 5-10 minutes. I purchased an rca 1000watt home theatre speaker system also and once i had everything set up i was amazed at the picture. DEFINITELY GET HDMI CABLES. The sound quality is poor at best without some sort of external speakers. I just turn my surround sound on low and it works just fine for me. Picture is flawless, picture for gaming is flawl ess. I watched the movie abduction on it w/ the lights off and the surround sound at a good volume and i could swear it was like i was in a movie theatre. VERY UNDERRATED TV AND FOR THE PRICE YOU CANT BEAT IT. JUST GET A DECENT SURROUND SOUND W/ IT.

Positives -I purchased this tv in February 2012 while on special. I've been reviewing tvs for some time trying to find the right one for me. I've had my tv for 2 weeks now and I love it! It's an adjustment from having a flat screen tube tv. I purchased the HDMI cable on [...] to enhance the picture quality and if you are unsure if it's needed, trust me, you need it! The picture is amazing with the HDMI cable connected to your cable box. Negatives -Although I love my new tv, the sound qual ity is a little strange. The big speaker is in the back of the tv so its pointing in the wrong direction. Doesn't sound BAD to me but it could use some improvement with a sound bar or something. Also, daytime tv viewing is a little strange, the screen is kind of hard to see in ways but I might have to adjust some of my settings or something. Overall, i'm glad I made this purchase.

Picked this display up for [$] on sale at Target in October and we've been satisfied with this set. Price per size ratio this is unbeatable on sale. The contrast ratio is a little lacking but it can be tuned well. Colors are accurate. Response time is good, gaming on it is great. Everything from the old classics to new stuff play with no lag. Styling is nice, no silly lighted logos here, the power led turns off when the set is on. The linking ability with a philips surround sound unit is seamle ss. A big negative, if you don't have a surround sound set, the speakers are absolutely TERRIBLE. I swear my smartphone has better sound. I used to use my surround only for movies, but I have to use it all the time the sound is so bad. But the philips linking helps. Just something to keep in mind. Overall, a great value.

This is the second Magnavox tv I have purchased. The picture is sharp and color is accurate. I would recommend this tv. I purchased a 32" Magnavox a couple of years ago and have had no problems so far.

The exterior design is very high end, better than [brand] and [brand] which made me decide to buy and try this brand instead of the original plan which was either of the latter. Easy and quick to assemble the stand. Unfortunately, the picture quality is a disappointment. And i can't seem to hook up my surround speakers because it turned out my audio standard sucket which i also normally use on my last TV, [brand] and [brand] doesn't match Magnavox's. I also tried hooking up my usb of photos an d videos but it doesn't work. I am definietly returning this unit, exchange and upgrade back to my 1st plan - [brand] and see if it's any better.

Picture quality is not good unless you are watching a bluray dvd. Keeps going bright then dark randomly. I am returning.

I have talked with my husband for almost two years about purchasing a new TV, we finally priced things around and did our research and when we went into our local Target this one was on [...][$] off its original price. We love the picture quality so I must disagree with the last review written, our toddler's pixar movies look amazing and everything is more fun to watch on this TV. If you are not a wire or technology wizard, don't worrry! The setup took less than 15 mins. Sound is perfect in our apartment but I would suggest a surround sound system for a large living room or one with high ceilings. It's clear but lacks a "boom" to the sound, which for us is great because we can turn up our evening movies without it waking our baby. I will be reccomending this TV to any of our friends or family looking for a new flat screen.

This is a wonderful TV! Obviously, it's no Sony - but for a dorm TV for basic use I would HIGHLY recommend it!
