This author helped me save the life of my first horse. As a new owner I deferred to the existing wisdom of the barn where I bought my horse. As a result of solitary, confined barn living my horse suffered needlessly through chronic lameness issues. My quest to help heal my horse led me to Jaime Jackson and his wonderful books. This book will be useful to all horse owners. Six years later, I still refer to it and lend it to others. Great ideas for all size properties. I love it!

This simple and easy to read book has changed the way I view horse lifestyle management. Keep your horses moving, healthy and happy the way nature intended. Based on years of studying horses in the wild Jaime Jackson shares his knowledge and insights for natural horse care giving for all people in the equine industry. A must have for any horse owner that truly wants to improve the quality of lifestyle of their deserving companions. Most especially for those owners with limited pasture spaces th is book offers creative solutions which will benefit present and future generations of horses for years to come.

This book will knock your socks off and make you realize that the way horses have been kept for hundreds of years has been all about what's convenient and not what is healthy for our horses. Keeping horses in this natural of a state may seem like more work as you read the book, but I can tell you since my horses have been on track I have more time for riding because I spend almost no time mucking. My horses are healthier and happier, use their brains even on days I don't ride and move around a lot like they do in the wild. You can't go wrong by reading this book and making some changes to the way you keep horses. Every little change helps them mentally, emotionally and physically.

Increasingly popular as a method of horse boarding / horse keeping, Paddock Paradise stems from research done on the healthy U.S. Great Basin horses by the author and farrier-turned-natural-hoof-care-expert, Jaime Jackson. Most cultivated grass pastures are comprised of plants designed to fatten livestock - and thus wreak havoc on the health of horses. Seedy toe, white line disease, coon foot, fescue foot, pasture foot - all common names for what is actually one of the stages of laminitis. A completely curable and preventable "disease" caused primarily by what a horse ingests. Traditional horsekeeping practices include pasture-grazing on rich, green grass pastures or weedy distressed pastures - that are often filled with sugar-rich, starch-rich agents that can kill your horse. This is Jackson's 5th book and an excellent one to give to any horse owner you know!
