Ronco 5-Tray Food Dehydrator - FD1005WHGEN product details page

This is my second Ronco Food Dehydrator. The first worked fine for 20 years. This one melted and cracked after two uses. This is a piece of JUNK now. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Nesco makes a much better one for a little bit more money.

this product is a complete waste. totally unsatisfied. way too long to process food. with that said, now the bad part. all the drippings fall directly on elements and bottom tray. virtually impossible to clean. when cleaned properly you have to subject electrictral components to water or whatever you use. jerky was awesome, though. if your getting one, get one with a fan and drip pan. this is garage sale bound no doubt. cheap!

I'm positive there're faster units....but as they say "you get what you pay for" and I would highly recommend this unit at its REASONABLE Price...GOOD JOB TARGET ;-)

We bought this item because it was the the only one at our local Target Store. Don't waste your time with it as the trays melted on the first use. It wasted 5 lbs. of home grown heirloom tomatoes in the process. It's junk and a waste of time.

I repeat, don't buy this. I only used this product for about 2 - 3 weeks, when the plastic shelves started to become brittle and break from the heating element. I rotated the shelves as instructed, but the plastic shelves can not take the heat and start to deteriorate. Also, to buy 5 replacement shelves as accessory items cost more than the cost of the original product!!!

I purchased the Ronco 5-tray food dehydrator (without the fan) and I warn all others out there to NOT, I repeat NOT, purchase this item. After using it for 3 days with rotation of the trays and constant supervision, the trays ALL warped and two of them even had burned holes through them. The customer service at Ronco was not helpful and very rude so I will not purchase Ronco products again. The American Harvest dehydrator rocks!!!!!!!

Bought one despite the poor reviews...Here's the deal:It took 12 hours to make beef jerky and about 18 to make honey-cinnamon apples. It uses almost no energy and is absolutely silent. If you rotate the trays properly, it makes for excellent, evenly dehydrated food! I just finished putting about 5.5 pounds of sliced, marinated steak on 5 trays for more jerky that will be done tomorrow when I get home from my classes. It gets hot, but not too hot to touch. It also will keep your house smelling g reat! (Mine's smelled like apple-cinnamon for 2 days now!) This product needs a good review because it is a good, reliable product! For the price, it's ready to go out of the box... all you need is some patience; something clearly some of the other reviewers don't have.I love mine!

Hey brother in law got one last Christmas and I got one for my wedding shower. Yes, you need to realize that it does not have a fan so it takes longer to dry, but it also dries more evenly and saves electricity! It's easy to assemble, use, and clean. I can't believe how inexpensive it is too!

I purchased mine based on the name. works great, would diffantly recomend it to everyone. It does take some time to dry,my primary use for this for jerky. I would reccomend draining the marinade first.

I have my orginal one that my husband had bought when we were in the military, plus one that I picked up at a garage sale. Yes, it does let the marinade drop through on the bottom. but just put a newspaper or some paper towels under it. I just love mine. I use it all the time. I find if I use a meat slicer to slice my meat thin that it only takes 12 hrs to dry the meat. We bought the first one off the TV when it cost over a $100.00 and to find it at this price. Well if I ever need a new one I k now where to get it.
