I first want to point out that only two shelves come with the holes because only two of them need holes. Those are the top piece and the bottom piece, which you screw into the sides. The adjustable shelves don't have holes because they sit on top of the pegs- the pegs don't go into the side of the shelf. That being said, you get what you pay for. The underside of the shelves are not finished, so the particle board is exposed. All other shelves I've bought like have finished both the top and bo ttom, so I was disappointed by that. The cardboard backing is flimsier than I'm used to as well. But it was still [$] and my closet is more organized than it was this morning, so overall I am pleased.

I bought one a few months ago for the all the kids' books. It was easy to put together. It was a little taller than I first thought, but it was a plus. Ihave more worries that it will last a long, long time even in the kid's room.

Bought this yesterday and i love it. Easy for my brother to put together. Great item for its price you would never know its under XX dollars. Fit an awesome amount of stuff. Great size and quality. Super easy to be more organize with adding the Closetmaid drawers.

This took over 2 hours for my husband to put together, with my help. The directions were pretty self explanatory but only 2 of the shelves have pre drilled holes. Unfortunately for our sanity we didn't figure that out until after putting it together (by using drill bits and a lot of guessing). Overall, well worth the [the money] Just wished we had taken a look at the other 2 shelves first!!

I just wanted a small, simple book shelf to put in my closet. The price on this one was pretty reasonable, and it was the perfect size for my closet. I was a little worried about assembling it because I'm horrible at putting things together. It turned out to be very easy to assemble, the only problem I had was when I accidentally put the top shelf on upside down, mainly because I wasn't paying much attention. I got it put together pretty quickly, and it looks great in my closet. I can't really say how sturdy it is since I've only had it for a couple weeks, but I put some pretty heavy books on the shelves and so far they're holding up nicely. I like it so much that I'm probably going to buy a second one to put all the other stuff in my closet in. Just remember to pay attention to which direction the fixed shelves are supposed to go. Also, the back is just cardboard, which isn't a big deal to me.

Cute as in a good size for a small space, easy to move around the room, holds plenty of books and small items and looks nice with other white furniture or bright colors. Cheap as in difficult to assemble, particle board chipped off in the box (before even opening) and a sad cardboard backing (mine had glue all over it - what the what?). Only one of the boards came "pre-drilled" and the screws included were flat-bottomed, not pointed. I had to do some extra work to assemble this and en ded up putting it back in the box to return. Before buying, please know that the back of this bookcase is made of cardboard comparable in thickness to a cereal box. It comes out of the box as a tri-fold that you unfold to nail in. My 10 month old barely leaned on it as we were putting it together and it ripped so badly it is no longer usable. He is a teeny little guys so we're not exactly talking a lot of pressure. Also, there are no grooves in the bottom of the shelves for the pegs to fit into so the shelves could easily move or fall off . Probably would not want to put this shelf in a place frequented by young children. I am giving it a three because, hello, I paid less [not much $] for it. I got what I paid for...

Contrary to what [another reviewer ] says there ARE pre-drilled holes if you look for them. Assembles easily - just pay attention to keep all finished/unfinished edges in same direction(s). I was at first disappointed with the folded up cardboard back piece for this unit but considering it's an [inexpensive] unit it's not an issue and my 3-year-old will not notice or care. Would definitely buy it again and recommend to friends.

I love this bookcase. I got it yesterday and it was bigger and taller than I expected it to be, which was good. The bookcase looks nice in my room and holds all of my books just fine. I wouldn't mind getting another one! Assembly is easy and takes minutes. If anyone complains about this product being cheaply and/or poorly made, take a second look at the price.
