We needed a lamp for one of our bedrooms in our rental. It has no ceiling light, but has a light switch with an outlet to plug a floor lamp into. Pure utility, serving a very specific purpose...so you can walk into the room, flip a switch, and see your way across the room. We didn't want to spend a lot, not gonna live here forever. At this price, may even leave it here for the next tenants. WE DECIDED TO TAKE A CHANCE DESPITE THE POOR REVIEWS. Our lamp arrived quickly. Went together in a snap, perfectly straight, no problems whatsoever. Weighted nicely. Actually far better quality than we expected for the price. Plus we got on a half price sale, so we got this lamp for around[$]Unbelievable. It is a good, solid lamp, and works fine. I rarely write reviews, but after all the negative ones for this item, felt I had to share how happy we are with the quality of this lamp.

The lamp would look nice if it would actually screw together. Mine is straight, but I can't get any of the pieces to screw all the way in... should have listened to the other reviews.

we've used this lamp for a couple of years now and it has worked fine. last month i moved it into another room, and when i lifted the shade off, it cracked and a chunk broke off. when my husband took it to see if he could repair it, it cracked on the other side and a much larger chunk broke off. i wish the shade was more durable, or that they sold replacements... it has odd dimensions so i can't find a replacement shade

[$] I guess I shouldn't expect high-quality. This lamp is junk....the pieces that screw together are crooked so they don't fit together properly. I've already boxed it back up....I'm returning it tomorrow. Don't waste your money.

This lamp is so poorly made that it doesn't stand up straight. On all lamps of this type, you have to screw the pieces of the stem into one another. On my lamp, the grooves of the female end are not deep enough or are mismatched somehow--when I screw the pieces together, instead of going together straight, they go together at an angle. This is not user error. I rescrewed them many times to check, and I observe this error at several of the junctions. As a consequence, the lamp is crooked! Also, note that this lamp, and many lamps of this type, will not work well with a CFL bulb. You can put a 3-way 50/100/150 equivalent CFL in the socket, but that particular CFL is really tall--so tall that the bulb is clearly visible over the short lamp shade. It looks bad. The price difference for normal usage between incandescent and CFL is 10 dollars/year, which isn't nothing. But that's a minor issue. The crooked stem is the major issue that causes me to give this item a bad review.

The lamp is worth the price. When you turn it on, it takes a while for the light bulb to reach full brightness. Easy assembly, sturdy. Nice lamp.

Bought one at target a couple days ago. Didn't assemble right; threading on screw-in posts was crooked and lamp was unusable. Returned and bought the same one again (what are the odds, right?) sure enough, this one didn't assemble correctly, either. Fortunately the messed up piece was near the top and didn't result in a crooked lamp. But still, horrible experience overall.

I purchased this lamp for its 3 settings for brightness. Considering that, it was a great purchase, it lights up my room very well. While it was easy to assemble, one of the sections for the stand had a bent screw attached to it, and so I could not screw it into the rest of the lamp completely. So, while the functionality is still great, the top third of the lamp is crooked.

It was easy to put together and was perfect for our daughters room. The only thing I wish was that they had more colors.
