I hardly write reviews but felt like I needed to regarding this TV- it's great! The picture is beautiful, the sound is great for TV speakers, gaming on Xbox and PS3 is superb. My household does a lot of COD multiplayer gaming. We were solely drawn to this TV due it's price and screen size on Black Friday but once we purchased 3D glasses and watched a 3D movie we were shocked and in awe at the picture! However, I've only had this TV a little under 6 months and the TV is experiencing some screen issues during power-on. It appears to be error diffusion but Samsung Customer Service was great about handling the issue and sending a technician out to fix the problem. Most products seem to have some problems at some point so do not let the issue with my TV keep you from purchasing this TV- you'll be lucky if you could ever find another 51" 3D Plasma at this price that even compares to this Samsung. I do not regret my purchase at all and would buy another Samsung Plasma in a heartbeat!

I just moved into my new place and started looking for a tv to put in my huge living room. I looked all over the web and in every store. For the price,picture quality, and the 3D feature I settled on this tv. I would'nt have been able to sleep on passing this beauty up for [$] after tax. After all I'm a VERRRY happy costumer and would strongly recommend this tv to anyone wanting a great tv for a great price. It was a steal for me.

This Samsung 51" 3D Plasma 720p HD TV - Black PN51D490 is definitely a great buy! It just arrived today and I set up the stand and tv with ease. I was amazed when I configured the settings, the picture quality is remarkable, especially the "movie" setting. The colors are very vivid, clear, the sound is great as well. I wouldn't even recommend purchasing any type of surround sound because the sound coming off the tv sounds as if there already is surround sound. You won't be disap pointed with this tv if you decide to purchase it. I still have yet to purchase 3D glasses, I'm sure the 3D setting will be amazing.

still don't have the glasses to see 3D, Target's fault, but the regular picture is fantastlc, sound quality too. Great buy.

We bought this for a lot more. Great value. Very happy with it, and if you do some research, you'll see that Samsung has emerged as the true leader in this area. We now have 2 Samsungs and have never had a second of trouble or regret. Martin

Bought this to replace an older rear projection in my basement. This is not our primary TV. First off I would say the build quality is very good. Solid piece. Good connectivity. Love the swivel base and how sturdy it is. Picture quality is very good but not as good as my [brand]. [...]. I find this set to be on the dark side even with adjustments. There is also some graininess to the picture with sports. [brand] looks very Good. My problem is that according to Samsung u must run 1.4 hdmi cables to get 5.1 surround output from the optical out on the set. [...] So you will need to manually change the aspect ration from wide screen to standard and back again. Decent set at an affordable price with 3d. [...]

[...] The picture on this TV is amazing. The sound out of the box is much better than my other TV as well. It does have a glare but that is the case with most all plasma TV's. The best part is the price. You get so much TV for your movey. I only paid [$] on Target on Christmas Eve. LOVE IT!!

After alot of carefull research and reading reviews, I decided to purchase this tv 5 days ago. This Tv is worth the price. After adjusting the volume and picture settings its perfect. There is even a setting if your room is have alot of light or in my case a dark room. Please remember to purchase the Target Warranty [$] for 3yrs and the great thing because the tv is 51inches they will come out to you to do any repairs.

This not only is the perfect size for my small living room, it has everything I wanted to keep from my 42". Even at 52" the picture is crisp, clear and fluid. The sound is not shallow or tinny so it was good to go out of the box. The glass screen does get glare i.e., sun/ lights, but that's expected so it's not a bother. I actually like the glass screen when it's off because it doesn't look like cheap plastic in a glossy frame. With the HDMI cable the remote controls my PS3 when I jus t want to watch movies. This is what movies and video gaming are all about.

Hesitant to buy at first with the low reviews on here, but after reading I see they were ..... This is an exceptional TV, out of the box the picture looked great, but after a few setting adjustments, top notch. 3D was more of an added benefit, but I ended up loving it. Also the 2d to 3d conversion works great, not a gimmick. The web is full of reviews praising this TV too. My store also dropped the price more since there was an error on the ad printed. Prior TV was a 1080p LCD, which was a little brighter, but overall the Plasma picture is much better and I really can not see a difference on Blu Rays at normal viewing distance with the 1080p and the 720p.
