This is without a doubt a great machine. It has just enough features to do the everyday sewing you need plus make clothing and craft items. I had a Brother brand sewing machine that cost twice as much and it's junk compa ... see more

Thought the bobbin wasn't workingbut watched a video on you tube on how to wind a bobbin and now that I'm doing it right it works great. Manual was pretty good but it's hard to show bobbin loading in a book. Wish it could go at a slower speed but other than that it's a keeper.

I HAVE BEEN USING SINGER SINCE I BEGAN SEWING ABOUT 40YRS. THE QUALITY OF THEIR MACHINES HAVE BEEN NOTHING BUT HEADACHES. WHATS WITH THE FRONT LOADING BOBBINS? I HATE IT. I'M RETURNING THE "PROMISE" MACHINE BECAUSE THE BOBBIN DOOR WON'T OPEN. SO UNFORTUNATLY I'M GOING TO LOOK FOR ANOTHER BRAND. I HAVE THE "INSPIRATION" MACHINE FOR WHICH I HARDLY USED, JUST RECENTLY BROKE. THE COST TO FIX IT IS MORE THAN THE COST OF THE MACHINE. TOO BAD SINGER YOU NEED TO UP YOUR GAME AND REDEEM THE QUALITY OF YOUR PRODUCT.

So far, so GOOD!

[..] It is wonderful! I can't believe how well it works for the price! I am super happy! I have had no trouble with it at all...I have sewn a couple of simple quilts with it so far, that's a lot of thickness to deal with, and it has worked perfectly. This is a basic machine..for the sale price I paid, I am extremely pleased. It would have cost more to repair my 40 year old Singer than it did to buy this brand new one. Well worth trying if you're looking for something to use for repairing or ba sic stitching, although it does have added features and stitches. Highly recommend!

I have not sewn in several years, but I got this machine for Christmas and it constantly jams between the needle and the bobbin. I will be having my husband send it back-I was not even able to hem a pair of pants because of the jamming and the thread breaking. After 2 hrs of trying to get this thing fixed I gave up.

This machine jammed continually and the timing between the neddle and bobbin seemed off. I couldn't get it to work so I returned it to the store and purchased a Brother from [retailer]. I've used sewing machines for years, so I was very surprised how poorly this Singer operated.

I've been sewing for forty years and know my way around a machine. We bought this for our ten year old daughter as a Xmas gift and for the price, it's a great value. When you first take it out of the box, give it a bit of a warm-up, sew on a practice swatch to get the oil moving through the parts so they're well lubricated. It leaked oil on the thread for the first few feet of sewing and did jam up. I also noticed if you sew all out it can break the thread. After sewing for a while it was f ine. I have a top of the line Singer bought thirty years ago and have a feeling this may end up being my go-to machine for quick projects because it's so lightweight. I was also impressed with the buttonhole making attachment and range of useful stitches. Sewing on a poor quality machine can be frustrating for a new sewer and this machine is a good bet if you don't want to spend too much money and get a machine that will function.

Seemed great and wonderfully affordable. I read the reviews about it jamming and thought it was user error and mine would be fine. I'm fairly experienced with sewing. Been a few years but I still do know what I'm doing. It was fine and perfect until all of a sudden it started messing up stitches. The usual tension adjustments are not solving the problem. Thought I had it solved when it started tangling around the bobbin. Still jams when hand-turning it. Re-threaded repeatedly and it is still jamming. My last attempt at solving snapped the needle in half. The machine is made with poor quality parts and construction which caused somethign to get misaligned somewhere and now its shot. I suggest you either save your money and just buy clothes. or else invest in a better quality machine. Another brand... I'm reading that this is typical for Singer across the board.

I purchased this machine on black Friday for [$$]. I have tested it out on all the stitches and functions, even meandering for quilting and it passed with flying colors in my book. I liked the machine because it only weighs 14 lbs. I didn't need another machine, but the price was so good and most of the reviews were great. I have a singer I bought 15yrs ago and it has the feed dog cover and everytime I went to do quilting the thread would break, this machine that doesn't happen. For the pr ice and basic sewing and crafting, you cannot beat this machine. I even use the serger thread 1000yrd spool from [..] with a thread holder, I put the spool in a coffee cup and set it beside the machine and it sews perfectly! I have different brands of machines and this one is a good one...don't know how long it will last, but it feels good when sewing on it. Sometimes simple is better and quicker!! It doesn't have stretch stitches but thats ok with me!

I love my first electric sewing machine!!!!
