The quality of these chairs seems to be extremely inconsistent, [...] they are stuck in the reclined position. No amount of force on the footrest will make it go down, regardless of the position of the lock/unlock knobs, which themselves feel extremely flimsy. It's a shame because it is a very comfortable lounger, but nearly impossible to get in and out of if you can't adjust it out of the reclined position. I will probably be taking them back to the store [...]

I guess I was able to capitalize on the poor luck [...] of these other reviewers. I bought these at Target, as a returned item. They were in perfect condition, and i paid [$$] for the pair. I, too, at first couldn't figure out how to get these chairs into the upright sitting position. However, after opening the chair, I simply pushed the lower section down toward the ground and it went in place just like the photo. I knew it couldn't be too tricky. The chairs are very comfortable in both the re cline and upright position. What I like most is that my back is supported when reclining, unlike other recliners that leave that open space near the small of your back, requiring a pillow for support. They are a great color and the fabric is sturdy and rich. It's well manufactured and worth purchasing. [...]

There are problems with this chair. Ours arrived a couple of hours ago. When we could not get it into a seating position I phoned Target and then the manufacturer. When the manufacturer found out which chair it was they said that they've there have been many complaints. The person I spoke to went and asked someone for help. He came back with a few tips. First make sure that the legs are as far apart, on the ground,as they'll go. Next lock the arms. Then my husband pushed firmly down on the fron t part (near where the feet rest). I stepped on the foot in back to keep it in place. Finally, something came loose and it started to move. There was a scraping sound the first few times we moved it up and down. It sounded as if it was coming from the arm. The company offered to start the paperwork for a settlement. Since there's a one year warranty we thought we would try it for a couple of weeks hoping the kink works itself out. I've looked at several other chairs. They were all easier to set up but they don't match the other furniture on our patio nearly as well as these.

Chairs are great, just had to have my husband sit in it to adjust where I wanted it. I was not heavy enough to sit in it and adjust. Great color, very sturdy and easy to store

I had seen similar chairs at a friends house. I say similar because her chairs sat straight up as the picture on Target's website indicates and they were very comfortable and even more so in the reclined position. However, the online chairs come without instructions and are out of the box in a reclined position which could not be repositioned upright even with adjusting screws. A person cannot get in and out of the chairs in this non adjustable position. I am very disappointed and am now faced w ith the inconvenience of returning the chairs to a local store and getting back my money. If you return them by [...] the site says credit or replacement only. Also it is very hard to print a receipt so keep the receipt that comes attached to the box.I had seen another review with the same problem and foolishly assumes I would be able to properly adjust the chairs and I was wrong.

I love this lounger. The first writer is correct there are no directions but to lock the chair or get in and out you have to use your weight as if you are on a swing and there is a lock right under the arm rest to freeze the chair in whatever position you wish.

First, I must say that the chair was in perfect shape and really cozy once you got on. Unfortunately, we couldn't figure out how to get on and of without practically jumping. It seemed as though there was no way to lock down the chair or carefully get off. Maybe we missed something, there were no instructions with the chairs. We just couldn't figure out how to get on or off. We brought them back and bought a actual chaise lounger that stayed put.
