Love this gate! We use it for the kids and the dogs. The swinging door is an awesome feature. Makes it easy to get in and out of rooms without having to move the entire gate.

I use this gate to keep our dogs in a small area of the house. It is even sturdier than I anticipated, and the hands-free pedal is perfect for going in and out of the kitchen with plates in my hand. The installation was a little tricky...it may seem like you are missing a piece to help it latch correctly...but once you tighten the bars correctly, the latch literally moves into place.

I bought this gate for use while my grandsons visit and it works like a charm. It is the first thing you see in the hallway when you walk in the door and it blends in nicely, so the gate can stay up all the time.

This gate is great. The hands free part of it is the best. So easy to just step on the pedal with my son in hand. It is also a great height. Tall enough so my dogs do not jump over it. Also, it is easy to install!

Definitely child-proof, even for 3 year old

We have tried a couple of other gates in the past, none that were this brand. One gate, my boys just climbed over, and the other, they figured out how to open it, even though it was "child-proof." The First Years Gate is very easy for my husband and I to open, but one has to step down with force to open the gate. My 3 year old is not able to do it. Great gate!

This is by far the best baby gate on the market. We use it to keep out toddlers out of the laundry room, and sometimes to keep the dog in the laundry room. You can move through easily even when carrying two kids. Wonderful.

I love the way this gate looks. It is very sleek and clean looking, great for keeping the dogs out of the nursery! The pedal is a bit stiff so you do need to put your weight into it as you step down to open the gate but it is worth it if you have your hands full. The big down side is that the foot pedal is wide so we are not able to close the door while the gate is in place.

I bought 2 of these gates to keep my dogs where I want them. I shopped everywhere else I could think of, and this was not only the best deal, but it was the only one I found that was hands free. They were pretty easy to install, I did it myself. They also seem very sturdy. These gates are working out well, no escapees. I am very happy with my purchase.[...] I just had to lug them in the front door, one short trip instead of 3. I would definitely buy again.

Excellent Design and SUPER STURDY!

This gate is fabulous. I registered for it and got it as a shower gift. Since I didn't need it right away I first put it up at my mom's house to help keep the dogs in another room since they jumped on me and the baby when we came in the door. One dog was a leaper and could manage over it, but the other two could not. They would put their paws on top and lean on it and it never once fell down or opened. It is very easy to open, and close, the foot pedal is awesome when you are carrying a sleepin g baby and don't want to fumble with stupid latches. Now we have it at the bottom of our stairs (for about the last year). My daughter is a year and a half and will hold on to the gate and shake it with all her might and it had never slipped or opened. I will say that with all her shaking we do need to re-tighten the screw-feet that secure it against the wall, but only like once a month. The bars are wide enough that if she throws a toy over it, she can reach through and get it (most times) but they are not wide enough for a head. My husband is only about 5"6' and he can step over it if he wants to. I am only 5"2' and I find that uncomfortable, but I see no reason why I should, that is why I bought one with a walk-through gate. I am getting ready to buy one more for the top of the stairs because my daughter is now brave enough to try going down them without me sometimes, and I worry that she may decide to get out of bed and try to climb down stairs in the night and hurt herself. I cannot think of one bad thing about this gate!!
