We eat a lot of rice in our household. I've had a rice cooker for years but never felt good about using it because of the aluminum pot. This clay pot remedies that worry completely. I was surprised even though the size is huge overall it's not heavy to move in and out of the cupboard for use. I've only cooked rice with lentils in it so far but I look forward to trying some of my old recipes.

I've had a NUMBER of slow cookers/rice cookers over the years and this cooker is one of the BEST Ever!! It is a little slow to get started (having a slight delay), but when it gets started it does a GREAT Job!! The Clay surface really keeps the food warm, and the food seems Tastier (with not the usual aluminum taste from other [more modern] cookers. And I'm sure the Teflon on most popular cookers can't be 100% healthy over many years). -- And BTW, what in the HECK is Wrong with the Old Bat (Lad y) in Texas?!? [she must be a Blonde] -- Does she expect replacements for her car tires if she runs over a Nail?!? -- Essenergy Response was 100% right not to replace the item for this KLUTZ!! -- And Stacy P from Philly was/is 100% WRONG for saying that the company rep couldn't/shouldn't reply (Stacy don't you know what the 1st Amendment is?!? (Hint: It is FREE speech, and it DOESN'T only apply to customers (Stacy must be a Scatterbrain Blond as well!!). -- I've dealt with the VitaClay/Essenergy Response company and I have ALWAYS been treated with the UTMOST professionalism and respect!! (I also Cracked a Pot, when I placed a very HOT pot inside a COLD Freezer [MY Fault])-- So I would HIGHLY recommend this product!! Buy It! (it is 100% WORTH IT) [and PS: Ignore the Scatterbrain Klutz/Chicks, who you can clearly tell have the case of the Butterfingers and/or not following instructions!! (and Bad [Childish] Attitudes).]

I think it is extremely inappropriate that you are responding to this review. Clearly, Texas Mom is upset and as a consumer I would take this into consideration. There are two reviews on your product and they are stark opposite reviews of one another, there is no need for you to respond and place the blame on Texas Mom. I was considering your product UNTIL I had read your post. It seems to me that Texas Mom was not that far off with her review on your customer relations.

This is in response to Texas Mom who had broken her pot and requested a free replacement. Our warranty is for one year and covers the electrical components. We cannot be responsible for the clay pots. Clay pots can be dropped, broken, or even subject to misuse. As with stoneware or crock pots, breakage can occur. It would be unlikely that a customer would request replacement for a broken dish if it was dropped and broken. Our clay pots are just as sturdy as stoneware, but still are subject to b reakage. Texas mom was cooking steel cut oatmeal on a rice cooking setting. As this is not the appropriate use of a rice cooker, we cannot be responsible for the broken pot. Texas mom did speak with Michelle, who explained the appropriate setting to cook the oatmeal. Texas mom did not take her advice, and it resulted in another pot being broken. In this case, to promote good will we did offer to replace her pot free of charge, just requiring payment of shipping and handling. We stand by our product and diligently work with all of our customers to come to a satisfactory resolution to whatever issues may arise.

It sounded fabulous to have a rice cooker made with clay and not with the non-stick materials that aren't healthy for you. However I have had this rice cooker for less than a year and the clay pot has cracked and broken twice. The company blamed me for the breakage although I followed the instructions in the manual to a tee. So I had to flip the bill for the first pot replacement and I haven't decided if I am even going to bother with purchasing another clay insert. My husband hates this rice c ooker, it spews out goop alot of times all over the counter and makes a huge mess. But I could live with that, but I don't want to be replacing the insert every 6 months that will get very expensive. The contact at the company I spoke with is Michelle Liu and she wasn't very helpful when all was said and done. She stated that they'd replace the pot and I would just have to pay for S&H and then she changed her song and dance when it came down to it. I never got any kind of compensation, such as a new clay pot. Beware of this rice cooker and to be safe I'd stay away from anything manufactured from this company. There customer service sounds good at the forefront but beware they are all talk. They do not deliver what they promise.

Have used this for both rice (brown) cooking and slow cooking. I like the way the rice cooks in the short time; like the slow cooker, so far. The clay pot is easy to clean. The unit is larger than the previous rice cooker I had but I was able to make room for it. I would recommend this to anyone who regularly cooks rice and slow cooks. The clay pot is smaller than some slow cookers so some people might be concerned about this. It works fine for us (2 people).

I'm glad I found this from Target.com

I've been looking for a clay rice cooker for a long time. And I'm very happy I finally found and bought it here. It combined the traditional and modern cooking with the smart technology. I use it everyday to make rice, stew and soup for my family. It's really simple and healthy!!!
