This water balloon launcher was a great educational tool for my students. I gave my students the task to calculate what angle and what distance they needed to pull the launcher back to hit me sitting 25 meters away. We did some preliminary lab work to estimate the exit velocity of the launcher based on two different distances for pulling back the water balloon. All of my students enjoyed the lab and were able to apply their knowledge of projectile motion to try and hit me with water balloons. O nly one group out of 10 was able to hit me while another came within a foot of hitting me.
