  • Baked Meatballs in Tomato-Lime Sauce

    • 1 pound ground beef
    • 2 small onions, finely chopped
    • 1/4 cup plain, dry breadcrumbs
    • 3 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
    • 6 sprigs fresh cilantro, chopped
    • 1 egg, lightly beaten
    • 2 tsp ground cumin, divided
    • 1 tsp paprika
    • 1 pinch crushed red pepper flakes
    • 1 tbsp Bertolli Classico Olive Oil
    • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
    • 2 tbsp finely chopped fresh ginger (optional)
    • 1 tsp turmeric
    • 3 tbsp lime juice
    • 1 24-ounce jar of Bertolli Olive Oil and Garlic Pasta Sauce


    1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

    2. Combine ground beef, half of the onion, breadcrumbs, parsley, cilantro, egg, cumin, paprika, red pepper flakes, and--if desired--salt and pepper.

    3. Shape into 1-inch balls. Arrange meatballs on baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes. Remove from oven and set aside.

    4. Heat olive oil in 4-quart saucepot over medium heat and cook remaining onion, stirring occasionally, until tender. Stir in garlic, ginger, and turmeric and cook for one minute. Stir in lime juice and sauce. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in meatballs and cook an additional 10 minutes or until meatballs are done.

    Recipe serves four.

  • Grilled Pizza Margherita

    • 1 cup Bertolli Olive Oil and Garlic Pasta Sauce
    • 1 prebaked 12-inch pizza crust
    • 4 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, thinly sliced
    • 2 tbsp Bertolli Classico Olive Oil
    • 2 tbsp chopped fresh basil leaves


    1. Evenly spread sauce on pizza crust, then top with cheese.

    2. Grill covered over medium heat, rotating pizza occasionally, for 10 minutes or until sauce is hot and cheese is melted.

    3. Drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with basil, and serve immediately.

    Recipe serves four.

  • In 1865, Francesco Bertolli opened a small store in Lucca, Italy, selling regional foods such as wine, cheese, olives, and olive oil.
