England's Step 1 UK imprint serves up a 19-track slab of wooly psychobilly from the wily independent Western Star label. These tracks were inspired by everyone from the original psychobillies such as the Legendary Stardust Cowboy and Hasil Adkins to latter practitioners such as the infamous Meteors and King Kurt. The scene is for the most part underground -willfully so -- and attracts a steady stream of fans to shows across the United Kingdom and Europe at large, and acts from all over the world are included here. Better-known acts such as Dan Hegarty and the Sharks are here, so are lesser-known bands such as the Kansas City Cryers, Bad Detectives, and proto-metal psychobillies Neck Valve, providing a varied take on the music itself.
