The first volume of the Boogie Nights soundtrack was loaded with great songs -- all of which were featured in the movie, which is a rare thing in Hollywood in the '90s -- but it happened to leave just as many good songs behind. Boogie Nights, Vol. 2 corrects that problem by rounding up many of the best songs from the movie that were not included in the first disc -- in fact, "Mama Told Me (Not to Come)," "Fooled Around and Fell in Love," and "Jessie's Girl" play such an integral part in the film itself, it's hard to believe they weren't on the first volume. The remaining songs -- including "It's Your Thing," "Joy," "Drivers Seat," "Feel Too Good" -- didn't make quite as large of an impression, yet they are still terrific artifacts from the late '70s and early '80s, and the disc itself it is wonderfully fun ride, one of the best collections of hits and forgotten favorites from this era yet assembled.
