A Patented Pre-Warmed Tip
Unlike other ear thermometers, Braun ThermoScan 5 features a pre-warmed tip. A conventional tip at room temperature has a cooling effect on the ear canal. The cool-down effect can result in an inaccurate temperature reading. Braun features a pre-warmed tip that minimizes this cooling effect and helps ensure accurate measurements time after time.
The Guidance System
ThermoScan 5 also features a Guidance System, which detects if the probe has not been constantly placed in a stable position in the ear canal. If an accurate measurement was not possible, the thermometer will signal you by displaying "POS" to indicate a positioning error. In addition, if you're taking a temperature on someone else, the Guidance System will provide a flashing light during the measuring process. When the thermometer detects an accurate measurement has been taken, the light will become continuous.
As with any thermometer, proper technique is important. To ensure an accurate measurement, fit the probe snugly into the ear canal.
