Originally simulcast to over 1,500 cinemas across the country, this production constituted something of an anomaly: one of the very first filmed operas to take advantage of the early 21st Century 3D phenomenon. Mounted at the Royal Opera House by stage director Francesca Zambello, and filmed for the cinema using a special 3D process by Julian Napier, it presents a version of Georges Bizet's 1875 masterpiece never before seen. The cast includes Christine Rice in the title role, Bryan Hymel as Don José, and Aris Argiris as Escamillo. Constantinos Carydis conducts. Nathan Southern, Rovi
