D-Link DCS-825L Wi-Fi HD Baby Monitor Camera is rated 3.7083 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great option Set up was easy. The image quality is great both in day time and night time mode (which the camera automatically changes). The temperature feature is great and has helped us since we have an AC issue on the whole 2nd floor. I love that I can tap into the camera at work and watch our baby if she is home. I can also hear the camera noise while listening to music. This is a great option if I do not want to have the app open while at work. Negatives - My push notification do not work. I do have notifications within the app but they do not alert me with a pop up or a sound. I have to be looking at the app to see those notifications. This may be an app issue and not a camera issue. Another negative (which we cannot lower the rating for) is not being able to pan the camera from within the app and not having a wide lens. These of course are features the camera is lacking not that do not work on the camera. The app as well needs improvement. Right now it sometimes closes on me. If I have the volume up it is not a big deal since I can still hear but since I turn it off (she sleeps in the room next to us and I can hear without the monitor so I turn off the sound) then it can be annoying. One last issue (which could be the internet connection) is at times there is a delay. It can vary from 1 sec to 3 secs. However most of the time it is real time. Oh and the app is slow. Sorry I keep adding, I am working on the app as I type this so as things come up I keep typing. Overall the fact we can connect from both iPhone and Android devices is the main reason we got this app (if there was a Microsoft app that would take the cake). My husband travels and this helps him tap in to see the baby. We do love this camera and hope to use it for a long time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Meets Expectations The product was very easy to setup and the phone app (for apple) was simple to follow. The app itself could be better written and faster to change settings. Pros: Quality picture and night vision, good sound, thermometer works well, versatile for mounting to wall, lullabies are a nice feature, you can view the camera from anywhere. Cons: Now panning/tilting/zooming, video has about a 2-3 second lag, phone app is slow.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from D-link Baby Monitor I was surprised to find that the D-Link baby monitor was more fun to use than I had thought it would be. We have the monitor looking down the hallway at night, which means my husband and I can be in our room and see which kid is sneaking out of bed into the hallway to get into mischief, and we can do it with our door closed. I am pretty sure the younger ones are wondering how we can see through the door when we are not out there to tell them to get back into bed. I had always thought of baby monitors as audio-only, but the camera feature adds to the functionality because you can actually see what is going on and whether or not you need to intervene. My husband and I were both surprised at how clear and detailed the picture was as we viewed it on the smartphone. The first night we turned the lights out and were impressed that we could still see an extremely clear picture. The infrared night vision is very impressive. I know baby monitors are supposed to be for the littlest guys, but we found it much more helpful (and sometimes amusing) with slightly older children who do not want to go to bed. The smartphone app and camera were relatively easy to set up. My biggest complaint is that the app is a drains the phone battery fairly quickly, which I discovered when I left it on during the day. Also, on the box it says that you can view at home or on the go. I am not sure what it means by on the go, but whenever I tried to check the camera when I was not home, it said I was out of range and it did not work. The monitor picks up sound really well so you can hear what is going on, but we did not have much luck trying to talk back through it; you can hear baby, but baby probably will not hear you very well if you try talking back. The lullaby feature is fun. There is supposed to be a function to record footage when there is motion or sound, but it is not available on android (at least not on my phone), and the microSD card for the camera is not included. Disclaimer: I received the D-Link monitor as a free sample to review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from D link monitor I recently received the D link baby monitor to text out as a free sample. The initial set up of the monitor is super easy. It is extremely easy to connect to your wifi connection and very easy to create an account to log in. From there you pretty much plae the monitor where you want it and start enjoying watching your baby. You control everything straight from your phone. It plays music thru the monitor and the picture is great. I would totally recommend this product to anyone who doesnt want to lug around a monitor in addition to your phone. Also it allows you to walk away from your range location with older monitors. You do not have to worry about static interference and you can stand at the end of your driveway with the confort of seeing and hearing your baby the entire time Overall I would say that this product is completely awesome and worth every penny to feel safe watching your baby sleep or play

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Connectivity Issues I received this monitor for free in exchange for a review. I am really happy it was free because it does not work and there is no phone number to help with support. Everything is done online and I got no help from the website. I was really excited to try this monitor out. If I could get it to connect to my phone we would have a winner. If it did work my only suggestion would be that it would have the option to view on a regular screen not connected to phone or tablet. I do not have a tablet or ipad so when i get a call or need to use my phone monitoring would be an issue. I would say if you plan to use this as your primary monitoring system and you do not already have a tablet it is not the best idea. We already have a primary video monitor we use. The Dlink would have just been a bonus to be able to check in while we are gone. Overall It is a great concept but connectivity issues and lack of support for trouble shooting are a giant negative for me. I would not recommend this monitor for primary monitoring.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Solid design and straightforward; uses smart phone as receiver This is a baby monitor for a specific niche: smart phone users who are sick of carrying around their baby's video monitor handset along with their phone, and those who wish to access their monitor from anywhere. The camera rolls the video receiver in as a smart phone app as seamlessly as can be hoped for. We received this monitor as a free sample to test, and while we were impressed with the overall quality, we wish its own video receiver in addition to its capability to run through your smart phone, as well as pan and zoom functions. OVERALL: When you open the camera, you plug it in and then install a D-Link app on your phone. I did this on an iPhone 4S. The app takes you step-by-step through setting up the camera and getting it on your wifi network. We had no problem at all with the installation and setup (our network is WPA); the instructions were very straightforward. Once installed, you simply open the app on your phone to view the monitor's video feed (which is max 720p). Once you set the camera to "Live", you can close the app (for example, if you need to open a different app) and the audio from the camera continues. There are also options for push alerts of both sound and movement. CONS: i think that the central downside of this camera, for some (including myself), will be its advantage for others. It is a camera only, without a receiver handset. If you need to do something on your phone that requires closing the app, you cannot see the video feed. I use my phone regularly throughout the house to access e-mail, weather, to-do lists, etc., and so I almost never had the video feed visible. In addition, the app very quickly drains your battery, and it was inconvenient to keep my phone plugged in when I was so accustomed to being able to carry it around the house. In 1 1/2 hours of live camera use, without ever closing the app or accessing another app, my iPhone battery decreased 86% percent to 25%. The other major disadvantage is that the camera has no zoom or pan functions. Finally, we noticed that it did not detect day versus night light conditions very well; if left in the "auto" setting, it was almost always in night mode. However, you can easily set it yourself to either day or night light settings. ADDITIONAL PROS: In addition to making your smart phone a baby monitor, it really is a huge advantage that you can access the camera through the web even if your aren't home, by creating a free D-Link account. My husband had a lot of fun checking in on the baby during the day from work. This and other features allow it to be easily repurposed as a security camera once your child is grown. Other notable features of the camera are that the app has features that allow you to check the temperature in the child's room, play a lullaby or speak to the child through the camera's speaker, and the camera can also be wall-mounted for an ideal angle. You can also capture pictures or video through the app, which has been fun when our toddler was sleeping in outrageous positions and I wanted to text pics to my mom or whoever without going in his room and risking waking him up!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Needs Improvement, Features stated on packaging are misleading I received this monitor as a free sample to review and have mixed thoughts on the product. Overall, the idea of having a monitor that I can access from my Smart Phone is a great idea. It is useful to be able to access the monitor while we are away from home if we have a babysitter or just to see what our dog does while we are gone (haha). My main problem is that you have to PAY to view the monitor if you are not connected to your home wireless connection. So if we wanted to monitor the baby (or dog) while he has a babysitter, we can not do it without signing up for the paid service. This is very misleading because the packaging does not mention this at all, but instead, brags about this feature. For this reason, if you choose not to pay the monthly fee, the monitor then becomes just like any other video monitor out there. The box also states that you can capture photo and video but this feature is not available with Android based phones. Additionally, the camera is static and can not be moved (remote controlled). Our current video monitor has this feature and I find it very useful as our little guy moves all over his crib while sleeping. And just another small criticism, the monitor shows you the current temperature in the room, which is somewhat useful, but it is in Celsius, not Fahrenheit, and we were unable to change this. Overall, I would not suggest this monitor to others until some of the key features are improved.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Easy to use I received this camera free for my review. It was pretty easy to set up and had quite a lot of features. My son is at the age where he is just starting to climb out of his crib, so it was nice to have an alert when he woke up and started moving around. This way, I could get him out of the crib before he had a chance to try climbing out on his own. I could also look to see if he was really awake or just fussing in his sleep before opening the door. I had no problem using the camera. There were several ways to mount it which made it very convenient.
