I bought an old south florida home with terrazzo floor and 90% sand in my "yard". Nothing could get the sand up from my floor. I swept then swiffered twice, then mopped. It was a nightmare. I bought this vacuum today and vacuumed my door mats and floor in half the time! I can walk around bare foot again!

Like others I'm very impressed with this vacuum. But was concerned about bad reviews regarding loss of suction. Found rubber seal between filter on back of canister does not tightly seal against motor air intake. Installed 5 dollar generic washable foam filter by tucking it into edges of intake. This safe guards against dirt build up in the only area not access able to clean. Wiping rubber seal and matting surface with damp cloth after emptying canister helps it to seal. Foam filter assures las ting suction. Worth it to me for best design attachments and vacuum I've ever used.

I had the same problem that other reviewers here have had with the clog indicator light, no apparent clog. Ah! but that wasn't true - there was a clog in the hose! It seems that the curved plastic part is a hair clog magnet. The clog was deep inside. It took a wire clothes hanger and some patience, but I finally unclogged it. The filter 'problem' is a red herring. You still have to clean the inside of the machine each and every time you use it, but it works fine once you get the clogs out.

I purchased this vacuum less than one year ago. It worked miraculously well for the first few months. After a few months, though, the clog indicator light kept lighting up. I took this thing apart almost entirely to find the "clogs" and found nothing. I cleaned the filters and emptied the dirt canister regularly - did everything I should be doing to keep my vacuum in good, working order. Then one day, I went to clean my floors and the vacuum simply did not turn on. I checked everythin g, but still could not even get it to turn on. I had just used it a few days prior to this, and it was fine. Bottom line - even though it might work well at first and seem like you've bought a great vacuum, this thing doesn't appear to have lasting power. You get what you pay for, I guess. I'll be putting this one in the garbage and finding something that might last longer than 9 months.

We recently purchased a condo with ceramic tile. We also have a couple area rugs. I was sweeping, dust mopping, wet mopping, etc. and still having difficulty maintaining a great looking floor. What a pleasant surprise! This vacuum is worth every penny and more. It has an adjustment to increase or decrease suction, an adjustment on the main attachment for carpets and bare floors and rolls easily across the floor. I was a bit worried about the 20 foot cord. While it might be great to have it a bit longer, the fact that it is retractable makes up for it. Overall, love this product. Two thumbs up to Dirt Devil.

I purchased this originally as a downstairs only vacuum but find I don't mind carrying it up my spiral stairs as it is an effective little machine. In the 6 plus months I've been using it, it has NEVER lost suction. I find I do have to empty it often but that's only because I have six indoor cats who shed ALOT!! I highly recommend this little dynamo of a vacuum. It's easy to use and works very well on my area rugs, hard tile and wood floors. I also use it to clean my mini blinds and it's light enough to clean my ceiling fan blades. Who needs a [$] vacuum when you can have this amazing little work-horse for [$]?

This vacuum cleaner works great, but you can not find the replacement filter anywhere. I purchased mine in October 2010 and have been trying to buy a replacement filter for 3 months. Even the company who makes the machines don't have the filter. Save your money and don't get stuck with a useless vac...

I don't know why this got as many good reviews as it did. The machine is quite heavy. The hose and floor nozzle are heavy by themselves. The floor nozzle is so designed that on hardwood floor the dirt is suctioned only from the side and then not well. The is just a piece of [junk] and I guess I will have to get a new machine - maybe a [...] again.

I've had this vacuum for several months now, and can't express my love for it enough! It is easy to tote around the house and picks up everything off of hard floors. I use it on hardwoods, ceramic tile, oriental rugs, and as occasional touch up in my carpeted bedrooms. It will definitely not take the place of my upright vacuum for my carpeted rooms, but I will never waste my time sweeping my hard floors again! If you keep the canister and filters clean, you will not have a problem losing suctio n. Love this vacuum!

This is an awful piece of equipment. After about 1 week the suction light has been terminally on if you turn the section beyond "minimum". I've checked it from stem to stern and there are no clogs. You also cannot return it to Target..I tried and was told I couldn't because it was used. Of course I used it, how else would I know it is a piece of junk. I can get more dirt off of my area rugs using a broom and it is useless on hardwood....which was why I purchased it.
