I got this for our mostly wood floored apartment. We have carpet in the living room and bedrooms and it does great on them as well! The only complaint i have is that the air coming out of the top of it blows the little dust bunnies away sometimes from the vac. Although then i can see where they are so i guess i can't complain that much. Over all this is a very powerful and great vac for an apartment with little carpeting. Wouldn't recommend it for a house with a lot of carpet.

My 11 year old son, who does all the vacuuming in my house, assembled this quite easily, but we're going to return it. It is VERY loud, blows debris away, doesn't actually suck up that much (when you can get the debris in one spot), and it is unstable when turning corners. We have a dog and tumbleweeds of fur which actually blew up onto the counters as he approached the kitchen cabinets with the vacuum. We will look for one that blows/vents to the back rather than blowing air out the front.

Just bought this today. This sweeper has so much force that it will tip itself over if you're not holding on tight when you turn it on! I could actually see dirt being pulled toward the vacuum. The larger opening allowed the vacuum to easily pick up cheerios and bits of food under my kitchen table - awesome since I have an 8 month old and a 3 year old... There is a lot of air that comes out of the top of the vacuum - it blew my son's drawings off of the fridge. But when you see how much sucking force it has, it's understandable. I was also pleased with the cord length. I can sweep my kitchen and dining area without having to unplug and replug. The only thing I'm not 100% thrilled with is that there's little suction from the side edges. When I swept along the floor at the base of the walls and cabinets, some dirt was missed. However, I just turned the sweeper and vacuumed straight toward the wall/under the cabinets. It's an extra step, but honestly, I still like this sweeper enough to rate it 5 stars.

I was looking to replace my old Dirt Devil that was 6 years old and the handle kept losing a screw. I just wanted something for the wood floors and area rugs, as I have a larger vacuum for heavy duty with attachments. My complaint with my old one, was that it was sooo noisy, it left my ears ringing each time I used it. This one is much better, not as ear splitting and seems to pick up better. I still have to get the hang of emptying, when I did it came apart and spilled, but then I was used to lifting the canister out, and only need to spring the trap at the bottom on this one- it was stuck at first, and when I detached the canister it flew apart. It is very light and easy to get out, so I am actually doing more quick cleans because it is no hassle and even works well on my larger area rug, getting cat hair and lint off the dark rug, making it look much better. Good buy, 40 dollars well spent.

This vac has a lot good going for it. PROS Good suction, picked up cherrios, even threads on a commercial carpet. Dirt cup empties and rinses clean easily. Easy to maneuver. Wheel wells do not collect hair easily. Dirt Devil has good reliability ratings. CONS Exhaust does blow forward and blows debris somewhat. lowering the angle of the vac helps this. The pleated filter must be washed and cleaned with a tooth brush if your floor is pretty dirty, and must dry overnight. Not as difficult as it sounds. Edge clean is not too good. Vac works best by heading perpendicular into walls. Design hinders getting under very low or tight spaces. Do not recommend holding vac over trash to empty dirt cup. Snap it out to do this. For the price and general vacuuming of hard surfaces, I recommend this vacuum.
