Product Information

The DC39 Multi Floor canister vacuum is engineered with Dyson cyclones that capture more dirt than any other. Featuring Dyson’s Radial Root Cyclone™ technology, reconfigured air channels reduce turbulence and preserve air pressure, so the inner cyclones can extract more microscopic particles and expel cleaner air.

Suitable for all floor types, the DC39’s Triggerhead tool is the only turbine head controlled at the handle, so there is no bending down to adjust. A fingertip control switches the brush bar off for delicate rugs and hard floors and switches on for high pick-up on carpets. It also features a detachable handle, which allows you to fit tools directly to the end of the hose, for cleaning in confined places. The included combination tool and stair tool are designed for dusting and removing dirt from corners and vertical edges of stairs. The DC39 is also the only canister vacuum with a central steering mechanism. Combined with Dyson Ball™ technology, the DC39 turns on a dime to give you greater control and easily moves around obstacles. The smooth chassis profile means no rough edges to snag or catch on carpet pile. The clear bin, made from tough polycarbonate, allows you to see when it’s full and empties at the push of a button, minimizing contact with dirt and allergens.

DC39 Multi Floor has a non-removable HEPA filter and no extra costs from bags, belts or filters. The machine carries a 5 year warranty, parts and labor guaranteed by Dyson. And as with all Dyson vacuum cleaners, DC39 Multi Floor has no loss of suction.

I purchased this product with money given to my husband and I as a wedding gift. I was nervous about switching to a canister from an upright, but after doing my homework I decided to make the switch. This vacuum is great for hardwood, getting under furniture, and the accessories. I was able to clean tons of junk of my couch after moving! Also, the canister is light and moves with you well so not to damage furniture, etc. The only things I don't love about it, which are relatively minor things, are that the cord is somewhat short and it is tough to push on my high pile carpet.

Just purchased this Dyson with giftcards from my wedding. It is incredibly efficient, easy to cart around, and takes up very little room in the closet. I will be installing a hook in the closet for the vacuum arm though since it doesn't stand up on it's own. Overall I am very impressed. Our floors were dirty so the dust/dirt bin filled up quickly. Good news is it is so easy to empty, which makes the vacuum growing up seem very dark age like. I recommend purchasing while the deal is going on, not sure I would have forked over [$] for it, but I might appreciate the value down the road since it has a five year warranty. I would rate this household appliance on the same level as a Vitamix blender, top of the line. Good luck with your vacuum purchase!

Just purchased this sweeper after reading many reviews. Excellent power, very fast and easy to change accessories. Works great on hardwood floors and carpet. Worth the price and would definitely recommend.

I just came from a Dyson DC07 that I had for 4 1/2 years, it still worked but was pretty dirty and I wanted something new. I tried out the Dyson DC40 that I bought my mother, and it is a wonderful vacuum. It is a great vacuum, just not the best vacuum for hardwood floors. I've never used a canister vacuum but this has been amazing. The suction is almost too powerful as it has a lever on the handle that you can pull to reduce the suction. Sometimes it gets stuck to my area rug in the living room . It is easy to turn of the brush on the turbine head, the attachments are excellent and the button to wind up the cord is awesome! The canister itself is larger than I expected, but the sweeper itself is a lot quieter than either of the other vacuums, even the Dyson DC40 my mother has. It is sooo quiet. I love this vacuum!

This is a well designed tool! It follows you around like a well behaved pet and works like a dream. I used a DC33 all floors for quit a while and it worked well, but was a bit cumbersome for the variety of floor situations in our home. The DC39 works well in every situation so far. This machine is quiet, Light weight, cleans well and is very easy to use! I would like to see ten feet added the power cord length and feel the connector for storing the hose and tube section could be easier to use , but have no complaints with this hard worker that would prevent me from recommending this Dyson product! If you do have issues, Dyson Customer support is tops!

No vacuum is going to do it all, but this vac is so good that I'm willing to make the extra effort to take it up and down stairs. It is a little awkward to carry. There are a lot of good things, though. A small pull on the hose and the cannister follows right along. It holds a lot of dust and dirt so you don't have to empty it too often. Because most of the weight is in the cannister, it is easy to push the light-weight front part around. The suction is excellent. The tools go on and come off e asily.

I have been using this machine since January 2013. The first one I bought had a little plastic clip break when I was putting it together. I took it to a local repair and he suggested I return it to Macy's. Macy's Fed Ex'd another within a week. I got this during the Christmas sale so I decided to take the plunge on what seemed like a lot of money for a vacuum. The Pros: This vacuum has great suction. It moves easily and gets into small places. I like the two attachments. The brush gets into co rners and baseboard under the bed, etc. It has brought the fun back to vacuuming. The Cons: My first disappointment was how cheaply it appears to be made ... and the clip breaking on the first one purchased. The canister gets dust caught up in places that don't come out when you release it (I have a new appreciation for bags). Do not buy this vacuum if you have carpeted floors or a lot of area rugs. I bought this for hardwoods but on the few area rugs I have the motorized attachment shuts down. It's not a problem with just a few rugs. You simply push the button on the top of the handle and it reduces the suction enough to clean rugs but I would not want to clean an entire carpeted house with this vacuum. Overall I would recommend this vacuum. I am concerned how much dust will eventually collect in the canister that is impossible to get out. I have bad allergies and I can tell it has helped me by reducing the dust. Previously I used a Swiffer duster and I did a test using the Swiffer after vacuuming and it collected almost no dust.

Purchased this vacuum a few weeks ago, I LOVE IT! It seriously gets the job done. I've had MANY vacuums and this is by far the best. So glad I made the investment, wondering why I didn't do it sooner?!? It's very light weight, easy to cart around, the attachments are great and the suction is amazing! One of my favorite features is the fact that it can get under very small spaces. This vac only needs a few inches and it will fit all the way under my couch, nightstands and dresser. Most vacs aren 't able to lay completely flat to where they can vacuum completely under a dresser, this Dyson does!!! I am very satisfied and although it is a little pricey I think it's well worth every penny!

I've had a Dyson Animal upright for 8 years and love it. We redid some things in our home and now have lots of area rugs over hardwood and furniture that the upright didn't go under easily. I thought the Dyson canister was the answer to my prayers. No. 1st, it hurts your hand to use it for any length of time. The bin that collects the dirt is larger than the bin on my upright so when you open it over the trash can it is too big and dirt spills out on the floor-also the dust gets caught up in t he bin where you have to reach your hand or a tool up into the bin to get everything out. Very annoying. If you don't have the beater bar brush going, the suction is so strong that it won't even work on rubber mats in the kitchen. I'm just seriously disappointed that I spent all this money on it. Don't waste your money. Does have a retractable cord which is great but shorter so you have to plug and unplug.

I was very excited to start using my new dyson dc 39 , but after a few minutes of vacuuming, the brush on/off swith failed to either turn the brush off when on and vice-versa. I felt heartbroken and now I don't know what to do except for return the vac as the dyson phone rep had nothing better to say either. Other than that i didnot have any issue with the vac, and you can disregard all the other negatives about it from other reviews as there are inteligent ways of using this vac that can hel p circumvent all/any issue, but for the brush bar not turning off or on.
