This little guy is perfect for any household with hard floors and pets. It's so convenient, easy to maneuver, and picks up pet hair and dirt with ease. Our previous stick vac was incredibly loud and usually blew more dust and hair into the air than it actually picked up. The Dyson is relatively quiet and doesn't have the hair blowing issue. It works ok on carpet - good for quick touch-ups - but hard floors are really where it shines. The battery life is good - usually more than adequate to do the entire house on the normal setting. The max setting definitely drains the battery faster, but I usually only use it for carpets. The normal setting has plenty of power for hard floors and furniture.

Like other, people have mentioned in many reviews, this item is for a an apartment or condo usage. It is very easy to get around with this vacuum. This is not intended for large homes, but it can clean stairs for large homes. This item is great for hardwood floors or tile, but I can't see it cleaning on the carpet with the roller. The accessories could easily help clean on carpet but only for stairs or vehicles. The battery lasts about 20 min in MAX mode, and it's enough for me to vacuum each s trata of my condo. I usually vacuum once starta per day 20 min each.

worst thing I ever purchased!!!!! loss of suction battery last only 3 minutes (yes, I did charged it at first for 24 hours prior using it first) while vacuuming, it stops vacuuming and shuts down even when I am holding the switch after 2 minutes of vacuuming.

Yes, you have to hold the trigger down. However, the power seems to last forever because of this. It doesn't run 20 minutes from the time you turn it on. It runs 20 full minutes of you holding the trigger. I could not believe how long this lasted. Now I find any excuse I can to vacuum. I also found that it never kicks debris back at you. With having two kitties and litter every where at all times, I'm used to being pelleted when I vacuum. Not anymore!!! In addition to that, I have a bad back. Previously I had a small cordless vacuum that broke down into a Dirt Devil type handheld so I could hold it over my head or do the stairs. It didn't have the power I needed and it was still awkward. I gave up on the stairs. At least until we got the DC44. I vacuumed two flights of stairs with no problems at all. My back is fine and I'm ready for more. The suction doesn't feel uber powerful on your hand like a Shop Vac tends to but it did major damage on the debris on the floor I can't even see. We have stored our Shop Vac for wet vacuuming only as the DC44 has covered the dry. When the battery is running low, there is a light that flashes when you have one minute left. It doesn't dwindle and die a dramatic theatrical death. It just stops. I haven't found the need to have a second battery as a back up but am open to it. I think I would only need a second battery for the hard core seasonal cleanings. Family reviews of Dyson have always been high and recommended. I knew I would like it, I just had no idea how much I would love it!! What a great product! Already recommending it to friends and figuring out which family member needs it for Christmas. The only thing we are hunting for now is a way to store the additional tools we purchased for pet grooming and the like. It would be great if there was something available to snap them into like the two that came with the DC44. Perhaps there is, we just haven't found it yet. You will not regret this purchase.

Just picked up my animal. So far I love it. I have an upright dyson now for 7 years and we love it! it has never lost suction. But I have never liked it for hard surfaces. I have tried numerous cordless vacuums and never have I found one that would last or enough power. My daughter's first floor of home is all hard flooring so she purchased this first and she loves it no complaints. Never looses suction or battery life she told me that she finishes cleaning and doesn't loose power. So I thought it would be the perfect answer to my problems. So far so good. One thing that I ask could you please let customers know if it is best to run the power down before charging or does it not matter. I know that many rechargeable batteries have a memory, so this is important issue. I noticed that out of the box it was charged so I didn't know if I should charge it or run it down first. So that should be addressed in the set up. I love the hang up devise, but you didn't make room for the extra tool that came with the animal. May I suggest making a second tool holder to hang extra parts?

By far the best handheld vacuum ever. I had the DC34 before this one and loved it too! Besides the fact you have to hold in the button (not that big of a deal) its perfect. The suction is great and its perfect for my tile and hardwood floors. Our house gets very dusty and collects dust bunny's. I don't even have to move the bar stools its so easy to maneuver! I can say that my DC34 after a year or longer lost it's battery life so I called and they sent me a new one no problem. Then the "motor" went out so I called again and they sent me a new one of those! It still works great I just love the way The DC44 looks and has a little more power! I'm sure they will do the same with this one if something goes wrong. Good job Dyson. I don't know why people hate this so much! All the vacuums I own are Dyson because of the quality and look!!

This vacuum is so much better than I expected (I like surprises). The first thing I noticed was the lack of noise. I had another brand of cordless vacuum and man was that thing loud,it was also a piece of junk. I don't know why people are complaining about the power switch,so what if you have to hold it especially if it helps the battery hold the charge longer. I can continue with the praises for this machine but you should purchase one and find out for yourself. Good going Dyson. Oh yes, I als o own a Dyson Air Multiplier and that too is fantastic.

I have 2 flights of stairs in my town home, and have FINALLY found a vacuum that is easy use and works great. If you have stairs, don't waste your money on anything else, like I have in the past.
