I had the exact same experience! My parents have the same set and they feel soft but mine are scratchy and kept me up all night. Idk if washing them before use was a bad idea, but that seems like a strange reason to make them so uncomfortable. Maybe they mispackaged them...

I was able to discover this item when purchasing it as a gift on a registry for a friend's wedding. She has been raving about them so much that I decided to get a set for myself. They are truly fantastic quality. The only minor (but not a big deal) complaint I have is that the top part of the flat sheet that you fold over gets wrinkly after washing. I wish it laid a bit more flat, but nothing to deter me from purchasing these great sheets again for someone else.

I bought a couple sets of these sheets quite a few years ago and LOVED them. SOOOO soft and comfortable. One of the sheets has worn out so I just went to replace it with the same sheets and these are not the same AT ALL! They are very thick and rough as sand paper when comparing them to my older sheets. I looked at the tags and the only difference I found was that my old ones were made in Pakistan and the ones I just bought were made in India. I would not recommend these at all.

I've heard that Egyptian cotton sheets get softer after you wash them, but with these sheets it was the opposite. They turned rough, wrinkled, and generally uncomfortable. I thought after a few nights it would get better, and it did, but not enough. I don't recommend this product.

I have a thick canvas tarp in my garage that's splattered with latex paint. I'm better off sleeping on that. I'd use these to wash the car, but they'd leave scratches. I'm at a complete loss to think of anything these burlap rags would be good for.

I am so disappointed in these sheets. I have a set from a few years ago that were much softer. These make me feel like I'm sleeping in burlap. I am really upset that I put these sheets on my wedding registry. Had I known the quality was so poor I would have picked something different.

Fieldcrest was always considered an excellent product during my many years in California - however, I was VERY disappointed in the texture of these sheets, 600 TC Luxury, Egyptian Cotton, wrinkles even after drying them according to Mfg directions, Very stiff & uncomfortable. People DO NOT iron sheets today!!! I WOULD NOT recommend these to anyone!!

AVOID! AVOID!! AVOID!!! I'd been wanting these sheets for quite some time and finally nabbed a set during the Black Friday sale. Couldn't wait to get them home and on our new bed--upgraded to a king a few months back. They're so soft and nice...BEFORE BEING WASHED/DRIED! After washing and drying...well AWFUL is a good description. Just as many others have said, they're very rough and paper-like. Also, they do NOT breathe...AT ALL. It's winter and we still sweat to death in these. I wa s hoping they would get softer over time and after multiple washes, but nope. Not a bit better. I'm going to try returning them. These are the worst sheets, of any quality/thread count/etc, that I've ever had and I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!!

But they are close. I just purchased these over the weekend, came home, and tried them on my mattress before washing because I was hesitant to believe they would fit mattresses up to 19" as advertised. They miraculously fit and I was relieved so I tossed them in the washer, washed them on delicate in cold water and dried on low just to be safe. Boy did they fool me. Not only did they come out of the dryer feeling like a set of cheap sheets, the fitted sheet is about to burst at the seams. These are most certainly going back to the store this week and the search will continue. What a waste of effort.
