The soundtrack to the 2008 romantic comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall is meant to be as humorous, fun, and awash in tropical vibes as the film. Written and starring Freaks and Geeks alum and How I Met Your Mother lead Jason Segel, the film is about how Segel's character travels to Hawaii to get over his recent breakup with his girlfriend. The rub is that his girlfriend is also vacationing on the same island with her new boyfriend -- a rock singer. This allows for some soundtrack fun as a few of the rock singer boyfriend's shallow, pretentious Brit-poppy songs (also written by Segel) end up here. Similarly, Segel takes a turn at the keyboard with his satirical soft rock ballad "Dracula's Lament." Throw in some catchy reworkings of a few well-known pop tunes sung in Hawaiian ("Nothing Compares to You" and "Everybody Hurts") as well as some unexpected cuts by Black Francis, Belle Sebastian, Desmond Dekker, and Os Mutantes, and you have a soundtrack that's hard to forget.
